Hi, My husband and I have been fighting our battle for 10 years with Sunterra as we were led to believe our 40 points would get us a holiday any time, any where, any size of apartment.
When we went on our free holiday we were told 40 points was not enough, you can imagine how we were feeling.
On our return we complained and complained to deaf ears, no one was interested.
Whenever we tried to book using our 40 points we were told no availability so we gave up in 1999 and put the whole thing down to a bad experience and a hard lesson learned.
In 2000 we read in the news paper about other families in the same situation as us and if interested to get in touch with The Timeshare Consumers Association who then put our case forward to Lawyers in Glasgow and we became a Group Action which helped to fund two test cases to be put forward in The Court In Edinburgh.
We were advised by our legal team, to be in the Action all management fees had to be paid to date but not to use our holidays or attend any presentations as this would look as if we were accepting the contract.
After about 3-4 years of paying management fees and legal fees we were told it would take each family around £2000 to take the case further and some people felt they were out of pocket enough and decided not to pay out any more money SO because there was a conflict of interest our legal representatives decided to drop the case as was their right advised by the Law Society.
Here we are back at stage one only more out of pocket.
My advice to others STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY and don’t be taken in like we were.

In this case Allan, not only does The Timeshare Industry stink so does our legal system. The Timeshare Consummer Association put us in touch with a group of lawyers i found on this web page.

Keep spreading the word. Send e-mails and faxes to all the CEO's of all Companies linked to ARDA.Benson sits on the Board Of Trustees

Get all other Consummer Groups all over the US involved.

Warn the US Consummer, don't just concentrate on Timeshare Groups get everybody involved.

Remember now in the US all these Companies rely upon the net to promote, they can't cold call peoples homes any more.

So spread the word like " Asian Flu Virus". Link all your links and threads to all Groups World Wide, Australia,Asia,Canada etc.

Every time somebody puts in key words they come up with the story all the time. THE KEY WORDS ARE

Benson,Sunterra,Interval International,AIG INTER Active Corp,First National, GE Money, ARDA Marriotts,Hilton,Hyatt etc etc.

Send e-mails and faxes to all the CEO'S showing the story. ALWAYS put in all the links

Last year Club Sunterra held their AGM in their own Lancashire heartland. Turnout was good but there was a solid core of malcontents to spoil the party spirit.
This year Sunterra Europe have chosen as remote a spot they can find, short of the Solway Firth, for the Club AGM in the hope that party poopers will be in the minority.
Southampton, 28 June.
Missing from the top table will be Geoff Bruce who last year rescued Dave on a number of occasions from questions Dave didn’t fully understand. Like “how much is Pearce paid to promote Sunterra?”,“when will Sunterra Europe go bust?” or “where is the gents loo?”
There is even a prospect that Nick himself might make an appearance to hold Dave’s hand - Cyn

I totally agree with Annette. We are owners at Thurnham Hall which was taken over by Sunterra. Been on 2 holidays. When we went to Gran Canaria in April 2004 we were collared by Scouser who tried to get us to convert to points system instead of exchanging. All for more and more money. I wait with baited breath for the outcome of the tax accusations by Podesta

The news that Sunterra are to axe 260 jobs at Citrus House does not come as a surprise to those of us who have had direct experience of this company.

They have consistantly used digraceful and deplorable sales tactics which has assured them a wealth of negative publicity for years to come.

Their reputation is now in tatters and their sales have accordingly plummeted. This can be directly attributed to the company policy of Nick Benson CEO who is fast doing for Sunterra and timeshare what Gerald Ratner did for jewelery.

Yours sincerely

There has been a drastic decline in the value of Sunterra shares over the past year from aprox $17 to $9.25. Could the free fall be starting? Wonder why they are in so much finacial difficulty when they have robbed their members for many years. Could it be that their shyster approach has finally caused their decline, assuring them of bad publicity for many years to come? No wonder their tactic is to hide their sordid business behind fly by night companies. Their own name and reputation frankly stink.

At close of business on 16.06.06 Sunterra shares fell again to $9.05. By now share holder must be have the jitters (for those who speak American that means feeling aprehensive). Any one from a medical background will recognise that when a patients 02 gentle reduces to 93% it can trigger mechanisms resulting in a rapid downward spiral to catastrophy. What is the figure which will trigger the catastrophy for Sunterra?

CAT the answer could be
"we have no output" !_!_!_____
This could be when it hits home to all those who have been blind and deaf to the goings on @ Sunterra Europe.

Benson has gone on paid leave, so it looks as if the end is near for at least one of the sordid lot from Sunterra.

Nick Benson does not see, nor reply to emails from members. Complaint emails go to the Executive Complaint Department, which is managed by a group of regular employees.(The manager's name is Jeff Shelton.) They WILL NOT forward any emails (even at the request of the member) to Nick himself. At best, emails might be forwarded to his executive assistant, only to be given to the resolution department eventually.

So who will read the emails now that Old Nick is on gardening leave?

Again, Nick never read any of the emails. It may have had his signature, but rest assured, he didn't read emails from members. There is an entire department dedicated to correspondance addressed to Nick. They do not forward any of the letters or emails to him... they respond themselves. I, myself, have responded to more than a few when they came across my desk.
