I hear from some people that they are talking about changing the driving license age in NJ from provisional license from 17 to 18 and then unrestricted from 18 to 19. Does anyone have any information on this. If so, I would like to know. Thank you

You can get your license at age of 17 only if you got your driving permit when you were 16 otherwise you have to wait till you turn 18.

I think that law is a bunch of bullshit. What needs to happen is those people over the age of 70 need to have a drivers test every two years until death. They are the problem on the road!

At this rate, you'll have to be 21 to drive in New Jersey! No wonder people are moving out of this stupid , heavily regulated, non-friendly worthless state.

I think both young teenagers (17,18, 19) and the odler citizens need a realistic test of driving. I think the official age for driving for the state of NJ should be 19 because all these 18 year olds are anxious about driving and still the majority are IRRESPONSIBLE! So it should make sense for the age regualtion for smoking too. Too many people young and old dying because of the young are killing the old. Next time u drive watch the young kids with 4 people in the car. Then everyhting will make sense.

I agree with you. I have a 21 year old and a 20 year and I didn't let them get their licenses until they were 18. I still don't let my daughter drive on the highway. There are too many crazy drivers out there and everyone is always in such a hurry. People need to slow down and have respect for the road. I'm not saying that it's the young people that are the crazy drivers, it's usually the ones from the city. They are very aggressive drivers and don't seam to care who is on the road. They cause accidents and then right away everyone points their finger at the young driver. It's a scary world out there. I wish my kids could have stayed babies forever. At least I had control of where they were and what they were doing. Sorry I got off the subject.

Our insurance is over $6000 a year with a 20 year old and a 21 year old on our insurance. Both having two accidents. We have 4 drivers and only 3 cars. Can't even think about adding a 4th car.

The insurance company will tell you no, because they want you to pay more money. It is totally legal, though, and your parents are covered if they have good insurance in the event that you get into a car accident.

I dont think you should have to take your motorcycle test. It should be supplemented to your regular drivers license test, when needed.
