Hate crimes violate the equal protection clause of the US Constitution. This is unconstitutional. If you dont like it, change the constitution.

False. In that one does not need to actually be a member of the demographics mentioned, merely assumed to be, hate crime laws cover each and every person equally. Try reading the actual laws sometime.

Hate crimes cover everyone. If someone is trying to terrorize a group of people by committing crimes against them specifically because of one group they identify with, that is a hate crime. Race, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, if you commit a crime to target one of these groups, you commit a hate crime. Terrorism will no longer be tolerated in our country. God Bless the USA.

Laws against hate are laws against thought, pure and simple.

And the "protected classes" in our society will never be considered equal members as long as there exists "protected classes."

I'm sorry you don't feel you are an equal member of society. Everyone is covered under the hate crime legislation unless you don't have a gender, race, religion or lack of or orientation. If you are without these things you don't have to worry about it because you don't exist.

False. No one is ever convicted for a thought, an action is required.
Bob the Bilderberg wrote:

There are no "protected classes", there are groups that are targeted for violence above and beyond the "average" and targeting those people that fit those groups as well as those assumed to be members is a crime of Hate. In that the assumption that someone belongs to those groups is also covered all are protected equally.

They had only wanted to rob Shepard!

Thank you Mr. President for signing the Matthew Shepard Bill. We look forward to further progress in the LGBT communiyt, as well as, the general public.
In court the defendants used varying rationales to defend their actions. They attempted to use the gay panic defense, arguing that they were driven to temporary insanity by alleged sexual advances by Shepard. At another point they stated that they had only wanted to rob Shepard and never intended to kill him.[2]
Henderson pleaded guilty on April 5, 1999, and agreed to testify against McKinney to avoid the death penalty; he received two consecutive life sentences. The jury in McKinney's trial found him guilty of felony murder. As they began to deliberate on the death penalty, Shepard's parents brokered a deal, resulting in McKinney receiving two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.

MANY HUMANS ARE CALLED TO DEATH BECAUSE OF THIS TYPE OF HATE CRIME!
CONGRESS SHOULD NOT HAVE MADE THIS HATE CRIME BILL APART OF THE MILITARY DEFENSE BILL!
THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HATE CRIME BILL FOR ALL HUMANS!
AMERICAN GO BEYOND RACE, FAITH AND SEX. YOU ARE FIGHTING DISCRIMINATION AND YET YOU DISCRIMINATE! MANY IN THE GAY COMMUNITY ATTACK THE PRESIDENT WHEN HE PUBLICLY STAND UP FOR THE GAY COMMUNITY---go figure! We are human first! THIS IS A CRIME AGAINST ALL HUMANS!

Do the people in the gay community come out of the closet to go back into the closet?
You want to change you I.D. from man to woman or woman to man
Using one's mouth or anal is not required with male to woman in sexual intercourse.
Is this domestic partnership/ personal relationship between two individuals who live together and share a common domestic lifestyle?

Marriage go beyond being gay or the desire to love.

This was a hate crime against all humans not just the gay community.
A gay congressman have had more rights than middle class americans.
Middle class americans vote should not be disrespected!

But the punishment is mitigated by the content of the accused's thoughts, which has the same affect.

Attack on a person is normally for financial gain or hate, sometimes sex.

In any case existing law applies to ANYONE who attacks another!

I see NO NEED for a specific group to be set aside for "Special" punishment because they attacked a "Special" group of people including law enforcenemt, gays, fat people, skilly people, black people, white people, old people, young people, female people, male people, etc.......

IF you attack any person you need to be punished at the same level NO MATTER WHO YOU ATTACK!

All men are created EQUAL!

The constituion implores government to treat all equally!

This gay/woman/fat/skinny/black/etc punisment is just silly!

You can't prosecute a thought? Are you a mind reader? You can only prosecute ACTIONS!!! What part of that don't you understand??

Hate is only evidence if it is observed in an action. How hard is this to understand? I'm baffled. Has any crime ever been prosecuted using someone's thoughts as eveidence? Are mind-readers now allowed to take the stand?

I don't agree. If you attack a person because of real or perceived membership in a targeted group (ie race, gender, ethnicity, relgion, sexual orientation, disability) it is a terrorist attack against that whole group. You don't consider what the KKK or Skinheads do terrorism? Well I do.

So if someone beats you up for your "perceived" membership in a group, it's not a hate crime because you are an individual???

False. Mitigated means "to lessen" thus no actions are mitigated.... the same base charges apply equally, Hate Crime laws are a modifier to standing laws just as other laws call for additional penalties for the use of a weapon while committing those crimes.

Wikipedia? Going to have to do much better than that. In that an assumption that one belongs to those demographic descriptions and a subsequent attack based upon that assumption occurs, hate crime laws still apply.

You're capable of making some very constructive and important decisions today, particularly where your relations with certain people are concerned. If you're fed up with the way someone has been treating you, you might now decide that the worm is about to turn and you're going to be much firmer about what you're prepared to put up with and what you won't tolerate.
