In finding this site and reading the postings, I felt it appropriate to share my thoughts on the Mississippi State Guard. I am a member of the Mississippi State Guard, having joined shortly after Katrina. My first "deployment" as a member of the State Guard was for Gustav. I was honestly impressed with the speed of activation, movement to the areas of need and the service rendered to those in need, forced from their homes. I witnessed some of the most needy of our fellow citizens, cold, wet, carrying those limited possession they treasured most. I saw members of the State Guard provide every assistance possible. I was impressed. Many of your are very correct, I found it difficult to "find" the State Guard when I sought to join. Even with the efforts to recruit today, to few Mississippians are aware of its existance. As to our personnel, prior service or not, all have been inmpressive to me. The State Guard is not nor is it intended to be a bunch of airborne, ranger, snake-eaters (and bless everyone of them), but rather citizens who feel they have more to give. I currently serve as the Commander of the 2nd Brigade. I served in the USMC for thirty years as an infantry officer with a couple of small wars under the belt retiring as a USMC full Colonel, saying this only to share my point of reference. I am proud to serve as a member of the State with such a committed group of dedicated fellow Mississippians. I hope the ranks continue to increase with quality individuals whose intent is to provide selfless service when it is so needed. Semper Fi Dave McElreath

Davie,

What wars of tyranny and aggression did you serve your New World Order globalist masters?

You are proud? Damn, boy, you should be ashamed, not proud. There has only been four wars that were necessary in the history of this nation.

The War of Rebellion in 1776, the War of 1812, the Confederate Service of the 1860's, and World War II. All others were wars of intrigure, greed, and grabs of power by despicable persons within this nation.

I know that you did not serve your country as a Confederate, and you are too young to be a WWII vet, so, you didn't serve your country, boy, you served your globalist, necon, PNAC masters...

Not one damn Vietnamese ever harmed us, and, now, they make all your Nikes, Arrow Shirts, and ties, and Crofts and Barrows pants. The communists own us.

If you want to be proud, try organizing a Citizens Militia to combat the growing tyranny in this nation.

As it exists, the Mississippi State Guard is less than useless! Wake up!
After hurricane Katrina, I discovered that the uniformed military people helping me were MISSISSIPPI STATE GUARDSMEN not national guardsmen. As I researched it, I found out that they paid for their own uniforms and personal needs and drilled on their own time until called up by the Governor. By the US Constitution and Federal law, they CANNOT BE FEDERALIZED under any circumstances. During Katrina they worked with the Red Cross, in shelters, at feeding sites, at local emergency management headquarters and other places distributing water and food and helping people get to where they needed to be. After Katrina, they guarded banks and beefed up police in the coastal towns with auxiliary services so the policman could patrol more and take care of their own families.

I thank God for the three MISSISSIPPI STATE GUARDSMEN that helped us when we could do no more for ourselves. It is only a weak organization in terms of state funding and politics....it is strong with good people who have good hearts and care about their communities. They are soldiers of peace.
Proud prior service

Sir,
Like all American citizens you have a right to express your opinions, they call this freedom of speech. You have more freedoms in this country than anyone in the over 150+ countries in the world. My only problem is that you seem to be a very frustrated individual who dislikes anything, or anyone miltary. Whatever you may call the wars our country has fought, since World War II, our men and women have served proudly and with honor. Whether you like it, or not, they protect your freedoms.

David served with honor and distiction. I ask this, have you ever served your country? From the way you write I imagine you are still stuck in the protest lines of 1968. Regardless of what you think, most people respect the servicemen and women, who answer the call, and without hesitation. They are proud to serve their country, and prevent the tyrants whose main focus is the destruction of democracy, and the United States. I beleiev that you are one of those people who rant and rave, yet when the problem is at your front door you start screaming for help.
The men and women of the Mississippi State Guard are some of the best in the state. They volunteer their time, without pay, until activated, and never ask for anything. They are the ones who will be there for you, when you need help.
If you have never served, then please do not comment on these men and women's service. They stand a head taller than your, sir. I woner if you really ever served in the Marines, because I have always heard that "Once a Marine, always a Marine" and you never let, or put another Marine down.

This is good but does not protect us from tyranny in the federal goverment. The federal Goverment controls all arms for the state gaurd. There for renders it usless for protection from federal tyrany. A better choice is a citezens millita.
I have this to say about you sir, you are the very meaning of the noun idiot. You speak of things you can't posibly understand. A quick search of federal and state law would show you that the MSG CAN NOT BE FEDERALIZED, which means we serve the State of Mississippi and our Commander-In-Chief is the Governor of Mississippi. Furthermore you're an idiot!

The United States and Mississippi State Goverments answer to the Citizens of Mississippi. The Mississippi State Gaurd is part of the National Guard. Which was federalized many years ago. The Govenor only has power. Untill the President federalizes the troops for service. The Constition of Mississippi, calls for 2 types of millita Organised(goverment) Unorganised(Private) The purpose of Private Millitas is to have a checks and ballance system in place to Protect the citizens from Goverment Tyrany! If a private millita is made up of citezens. You say they speak only for themselves(hmm who are they ohh yea the Citizens.
You make the statement Citizen Millitas are not under goverment command and Control. You are 100% correct. The reason is that is the Balance in Checks and Balance. Citizen Millitas are the only thing that protects us from goverment tyrany State or federal.
The US army also controls all there ARMS. Same as the National Guard.
Once again sir you make a statement without knowing what you're talking about Organized Militia refers to the MS Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and State Guard. The Un-Organized Militia refers to citizans of Mississippi who eligable for military service in the State Guard. Furthermore the contitution of this State provides thst the governor can enact a draft to call as many able bodied citizens as needed to serve the state. Which means if there is a situation that requires the Governor to enact a draft you just might be serving under the very people you are so critical of. You make whatever you read mean whatever you want it to, rather than trying to understand the true meaning of it. For that i feel sorry for you I hope you get the help you need. I appoligize for calling you an idiot I now realize you are incapable of decerning reality from fiction.
