Maine's same-sex marriage vote nears

Voters in Maine, where the largest city, Portland, is roughly half the size of Oakland, will be the first in the nation to decide whether to overturn a law approving same-sex marriage after it was passed by a state legislature and signed by a governor.

LGBT: Get up and start knocking on doors. Tell all of your friends, family and supporters to GET OUT AND VOTE!

This is an off year election, so voter turn out is expected to be light. Every vote counts! Make every LGBT vote count!

Sorry, your days in the majority are quickly coming to an end. Maine will uphold the right of gays to marry, Washington will keep their "everything but marriage" bill, D.C. is about to legalize marriage equality, New Jersey will pass their marriage equality bill in the lame duck session this winter, New York will pass a marriage equality bill by next year, and prop 8 will be overturned by the voters in 2010.

Oh, and don't forget Obama signed hate crimes legislation today, congress is set to pass ENDA by the "enda" this year, and dadt will be repealed early next year.

Yes, they did. It's very restricted here. The University of Michigan found a loophole, so I was able to be on my wife's insurance while I was unemployed. Most public entities are not so clever, or don't care to be. Private companies, however are increasing in their support of gay couples.

Wow, Michigan has more in common with Uganda and Iran than anything truly American, or Christian. Or civil. Poor Michigan, it will have a bad legacy to look forward too as the rest of the civlized modern world is becoming more and more inclusive of gay people. Gay people and the fight for gay marriage has the full support of all the major national legal, psychiatric, medical, social, and educational groups as well as all the major labor unions. Over 97% of Fortune 500 companies have same-sex partner benefits and sexual orientation protections clauses. The anti-gay groups out there are all religiously-based and have extreme right wing views they want to impose on a pluralistic society. Gay rights will prevail as have blacks and woman's rights have prevailed, both of which were denied rights due to the Bible. The Bible is great source of love and understanding but too many Christians focus on the more archaic and evil comments in the Old Testament as opposed to listening to what Christ has taught. Christ said NOTHING about homosexuality.

Your figures are untrue. But let me ask you something else. Why are your groups asking judges to shield them from campaign finance disclosure laws? I have not heard of a single pro gay organization going to court to hide who contributed to them. Why do you people want to hide? Could it be that you don't want your friends and neighbors to know you are sending money to out of State organizations so you can infringe on someone else's free practice of religion? Are you ashamed that you sent Maggie Galleger $1000 knowing she has refused to provide the legal documents required by law of non profits? Could you have spent that $1000 on a school program, a Senior Center, donated to a hospital, or helped a church school stay open?

If I could spare $1000 I certainly would not waste it trying to define your family relationships or denying your church it's right to decide who is married and who isn't.

How much money has your organization raised in State and from out of State?

Actually there was a loss. I believe Arizona said no to your limiting the equal protection of religious faiths and their definitions of marriage.

If you're gay and don't like it, then don't move to Michigan. They probably don't want gays there anyway.
