Why are we spending all this time, money, and energy on people's worrying sexual habits when our economy is in peril?

To me, this says that we are NEVER going to win a popularity contest. Why these decisions are put to the voters is beyond my understanding. Look at the views of these previous posters as an example. If interracial marriage had been put to a vote, it would have been soundly defeated, and half the marriages in Hawaii (or more) would have been null and void. Defeat of this level of prejudice requires judicial action, and even then we will not be considered equal to some dinosaurs.

When laws are passed to try to change the majority viewpoint by a minority of voters, that's called social engineering. It comes from lazyness in so far as running a good PR campaign to win voters to your side is too much work. You see this all the time in "social legislation" where a small but vocal minority has "a vision" that in their minds in "superior" to the masses of "uninlightened" simpletons that "just don't understand the noble vision of the few on the far left".

So if a minority of people want to have a sexual relationship between a boy and a man, then there should be legislation to force this concept to be a social norm as it was in ancient Greece, is that what you are saying?
