Maine voters latest to turn down gay marriage

Voters in Maine on Tuesday overturned a law allowing same-sex couples to wed, dealing a fresh setback to the U.S. gay marriage movement in a race that attracted national attention. The law was approved by Maine's Legislature in May but was not implemented after opponents gathered enough signatures to put the issue to a "people's veto."

once again, misrepresentation on the part of the traditional family values police, has circumvented the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution.

I fully understand that had SSM been upheld, the forces of church rule christian theocracy would have been back at work this morning planning to once again deny U.S. Citizens religious freedom and Constitutional protections in Maine.

The fight goes on. Conrats to ALL.

Actually I care very much. One thing I like about it is that it is written in my native language so it is much easier to know what was truly written than in the conglomeration of the Bible.

For example:
Article IV

Section 1. Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.

Section 2. The citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states.

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Amendment XIV

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

The whole country needs to be vaccinated against this insidious virus. Watch out for infected legislatures, they will be exploited by special interest groups to thwart the will of the people. From California, Arizona, Florida and now Maine, citizens are starting to see the light and have taken action to make their collective voices heard in their corrupted governments.

Kind of like the politicians, lawmakers and activist justices who enacted civil rights? Surely voters in the South would not have done the right thing. Equal protection under that law should not be up to a vote.

Well at least Maine had a lot more common sense that California, even if the law was passed they respected the people's right to vote on the issue by holding an election before implementing the law.

In California 18,000 gay couples were given preferential treatment by the courts when they denied a motion to let the people vote on prop 8 first before enforcing their decision declaring prop 22 unconstitutional. So now there's an existing double standard where some gay marriages are valid while the constitution prohibits it. What a flake!

Yeah, right. "Equal protection" like the hate crime law that grants special protection status to certain groups.

And only agenda-driven ideologues claim the drive for same sex marriage is equivalent to the campaign for civil rights.

Ironically the three states that carry huge influx of illegal aliens; which in my eyes these states dont care about their legal citizens.
