Yes on 1's Thirty Pieces of Silver

Nov 2, 2009 Full story: lezgetreal.com 13

By now, many of the people watching the battle in Maine have heard that Yes on 1 has increased their ad buy to $25,000 on the eve of the election, and yet, this is the campaign that, until this past Friday, was deep in debt and running out of money. The question that every Maine voter tomorrow should be asking themselves as they go to the polls is whether or not they want their votes bought by people outside the state. That is what this coming to. Yes on 1 has received little money from inside Maine, and now they are suddenly able to buy more ad time with money that they did not have even four days ago?

With Catholics and Mormons all standing against equality and jimmied up to donate thousands upon thousands of dollars in tax free money, why is it surprising that Yes on 1 suddenly has a bunch more money to spend? How are these churches not loosing their tax exempt status over this? Its not fair that donations to the cause for marriage equality come from organizations and people who have to pay taxes, whereas the anti-gay crowd gets donations from huge powerful religious organizations who are themselves exempt from paying taxes.

in my opinion the church shouldn't be aloud to campaign on anything because it is a violation of church and state and the money is untaxed...

Sei is right about that.(I read the attached news article)

I remember those days well when the christian bigots hacked on the catholics, the jews, and the mormons and how they ate their own children. Our Baptist minister rarely preached about anything else. Sunday morning at church was terminally boring.

Nowadays, the same ministers hack on gays. At least they don't accuse us of eating our children like the catholics, the jews, and the mormons do.
__________

And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.-- Leviticus 26:29

And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters.-- Deuteronomy 28:53

And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend.-- Jeremiah 19:9
__________

.....and these are the same people who are incensed about their kids being taught diversity and acceptance? For real!

Who will the bigots hack on next? Is there anyone left for them to hack?

it's the rope-a-dope strategy.
religious institutions can campaign for causes but not candidates. and they can urge their parishoners to take a "moral stand" on votes.
I'm not sure if they can take up collections during a service or not.

They are now using large group donations to mask individual donors -- see what's happened in Washington State, where the bigot petition-signers do not want their names disclosed. If they make a donation to the church, the church can give the big sum of money.

Doesn't seem right at all.

But they did it, have in the past and will so again. if it was truly against the law, there would be an examination. But this is hardball politics. Nobody said earning rights would be easy.

I'm disheartened that there are so many people who are frightened and opposed to families like mine.
My kids are some of the nicest, most well-behaved around. The younger one just won the most "respectful student of the month" award, and the older one's teachers say they wish they had 25 more just like him in the classroom. And I'm a teacher.

And according to the ads in Maine, somehow if I am allowed to marry, kids will be corrupted.
My kids are turning out pretty great. It would be even better if they had the security of legally wed parents.

Technically they are fascists, not nazi's as yet. That will come later when they act out violently to kill people that disagree with them.

WEll, I am not gay, I do accept my gay brothers and sisters though. I know you did not ask my opinion either but here it is.

You are affected with the insanity that was instilled in you by the Patriarchal Religious Military Industrial Complex of which the Latter Day Saints are a major player.

Judging by the total absence of LOVE in your post I would venture to say that you are a mormon and will come back at me with a vile ad hominen attack as you have no way of refuting my observation.

Have a nice day :)

Travis A said "COME ON MAIN YOU CAN DO IT VOTE NO!!!! SET THE STANDARD FOR LOVE! "

It's a sad morning but let's look at the bright side.

What has happened will hopefully be a wake up call for all those who value the freedom and LOVE that should be our birthright as individuals.

I live in California and my knowledge of the mormons was virtually non existent before they moved into the state to orchestrate the prop h(8) fiasco.

Researching this group on the internet I was really disturbed at what I found out about their beliefs and how dangerous they are to the health of the whole planet.

I urge everyone to get informed and get involved in dealing with this horrible insane group that is actively trying to make the United States into another theocracy such as in the Islam Countries.

Here is a website with a horrifying account of the "Mountain Meadows Massacre", the most horrible religious crime ever committed on US soil:

http://1857massacre.com/

We can deal with this situation! We all need to get involved, apathy is not a solution!
