The police spy case in 12 little words

Excellent column! Thanks.

Despite acknowledging that their spying was wrong--they should have added "anti-American"--it will continue. You'll be referring back to this column probably sooner rather than later, and we'll all still be baffled and aghast and the seemingly endless lack of judgment by the police.

Thank you for this column. I've been hoping that maturity and sense would visit the people who planned this waste of taxpayer money, but it doesn't sound like they think they've done anything wrong.

What they did was wrong, and stupid. They wasted my money on these surveillances. If I'm paying police overtime, why can't they send someone to my kids' school with a K-9 unit to introduce them to dog safety, or something else actually useful.

You forgot: It's Bob Ehrlich's fault.
And don't blame Joseph Curran...he's a democrat.

civil disobedience is used to undermine authority and gain recognition for a cause, by getting arrested.....just because acts of civil disobedience may occur is no justification for spying, completely ridiculous just as mr. kane put it, our constitution no longer exists

on top of that, who is taking the blame and responsiblity for this....is the person who ordered this going to be fired...how can we be assured this won't happen again? because if a violent protest did occur you know a citizen would take the blame....so when and injustice and corrupt action like this takes place, shouldn't someone take the blame? where is the integrity and responsibility? govt needs to be more direct and open rather than secretive and sketchy.

I am a card carrying member of the ACLU. I joined after a Maryland State Police Supervisor in Queen Anne's County, Earl Beville, ordered a search of my home without a court order or warrant. This was a supervisor, not a trooper. Then they lied on the police report. This type of arrogance and disregard for Our Constitution is all to common as evidenced by the illegal surveillance case and various other incidents of cover-up, condescension, and deceit. It's a shame that a few bad leaders cast a shadow on the honest and brave police men and women. I suggest that anyone with a concern for their civil rights and freedoms as outlined by The Constitution of the United States of America join the ACLU immediately. Don't let this corruption continue. Regarding post #8, this is totally false. As one of the may thousands of people in Queen Anne's County that know of Earl Beville's work in Queen Anne's County as a State Trooper as well as knowing him personally, "Mr Burtons" statement is absolutely not true.

Doesn't anyone think it is strange that someone from Dixon Missouri posted a comment on this topic from Maryland?

People who read this from the Queen Anne's County area that read "Mr Burtons" comments know that "Thomas Burton" is not really the authors name. The "true author" is a disgruntled Queen Anne's County citizen that is well known for his excentrics and distaste for anyone in government that disagrees with their point of view.

The "real" author should be ashamed of themself, but then again, you have to have a concise for that.
