Personally I think he's a total sucker to pay those taxes. He apparently didn't owe them, and while we all need to pay legally required taxes, there is no reason to pay taxes we can legally avoid.

Plus it's his wife's money anyway, and she has boatloads of it.

Beyond that, who needs a 7 million dollar sailboat? I wonder how many times he'll actually use it.

One other thing,.....who says you have to keep your boat in your home state anyway? If you live in New England and have a condo in Florida you don't have to pay your home state any property taxes, so why should he have to pay on this?
