La. bill could kill helmet law

“If you get into a crash, that helmet may be the one thing that saves your life or saves you from a serious injury”

Louisiana should stop forcing adult motorcyclists to wear helmets, but begin requiring that new bikers undergo safety training before getting a license, a House committee voted on Tuesday. via 4 WWL-TV

Does this mean also any one over 18 does not have to wear a seat belt? Or is this just another bias law?

Eh, Arizona chose to do away with mandatory helmets a long time back. Those with common sense wear them, those without common sense don't.

Studies of bikers in Louisiana have proven that
those not wearing helmets who strike stationary
objects at a high rate of speed with their heads
experience no damage whatsoever, according to
researchers who tested their intelligence prior
to impact. Some, in fact, showed significant
improvement in physical appearance.

Whatever happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave??? I ride, I wear a helmet by choice and force of law. I think its wrong to force the wearing of a helmets. However, I do think you should have medical insurance if you do. It shouldn't be the responsability of the charity hospital system to maintain the organ donors from motorcycle accidents whether they are wearing helmets or not. If you ride period you should be an organ donor, if you do it without a helmet, you should certainly sign yourself up.

Automobile drivers are the ones that need more training. The laws for injuring bikers due to negligence are to light. Two instances come to mind where people pulled out in front of motorcycles killing the cyclist and the drivers got a ticket for failure to yield.

A helmet can give the rider a false since of security, which often times affects their better judgement. When you wear the helmet it blocks out the sound of vehicles around you as well as wind noise. If some of these people, like those going down the interstate on one wheel at 60mph or better, could actually hear the wind around them, It may help them to understand how fast they are going. America; Let those who ride decide.

What a state, some say like it or leave it. However a woman can go to a clinic and kill a baby by (choice) and here I am a retired combat veteran, who works at a Harley dealership and I have someone telling me I have to wear a helmet. I fought for freedom and I don't see freedom in this.
