Being a racist doesn't require one to be "against" one particular race. It means only that you think that it's ok to treat people differently merely on the basis of their race. If you think that it's not ok for person A to marry person B because they are of two different races, then you are treating people differently merely on the basis of their race. That's racism.

Couples have the right to have children regardless of whether they are the same race or of two different races. And given that nearly all of today's African-Americans already have a white person in their ancestry, they are hardly in a valid position to treat others differently simply because the others' parents are of two different races.

Lots of children grow up being discriminated against because of who their parents are (whether it's because of their parents' education, social class, occupation, physical disabilities, etc.). That doesn't mean that parents should be prevented from marrying or having children just because their children may be discriminated against. The effort should be put forth on ending the discrimination.

Actually, Alabama was the last state to vote to remove laws barring interracial marriage from their books (60% in favor of removal, 40% against). It didn't take place until 2000, despite the fact that such laws could not be enforced after the 1967 Loving v. Virginia decision of the U.S. Supreme Court. Even in the 2000 election, some individual Alabama counties still had a majority vote in favor of keeping the laws on the books. South Carolina beat Alabama to it by only a few years (1998). At best, South Carolina could say "thank god for Alabama".
