Hey everyone! Hope you all have had as good a weekend as I have. My grandson and granddaughter spent the night with me last night. We have hiked back up into the woods and let the dogs swim in the pond, had a bonfire and baked a cake....I think they had fun. They left a little while ago. It was rather cool and we had a light shower but I managed to mow the front and back yards. Doing laundry now, trying to get ready for the work week.....

The poor people are not poor. They have medicaid and receive better care with no OOP than working middle class with health insurance and a large OOP.
The poor receive section 8, in which their monthly payments could range from the low of $18. a month to the high of $197. depending on how many children, the rent amt., etc.
The poor receive free food stamps, with the high cost of food now a days, they are eating better than we are. They also, depending on age of child can receive the WIC program which all items are the most expensive and the name brand, not generic or what is on sale.
The poor today, donot pay taxes, because their wage or Welfare payments are low, yet, they can receive $3 or $4 thousand in tax refund, in which they did not pay taxes at all. This is the earned income credit for each child.
The middle class who were lay off or their jobs were out sourced. They do lose in many ways.
Their health insurance, possible their homes, their marriages, etc.
Though, very seldom, no one addresses the needs of people who are out there working and then find themselves without a job.
I agree 100% Great post & right on!

Annie, I would ask why are you for people getting freebies (this is also, stealing from tax payers). No one and I mean no one is owed a living by someone else who is working, paying taxes, being bullied by supervisors and management at work, going to work when they are sick, having legit auto trouble and wondering where they are going to get the money to fix it with, watching others being promoted because they kiss butt with the management,(yet do not have a clue on how to do the job), trying to make ends meet when the company tells them they are not giving any cost of living wage raise or any raise while groceries and gas jump sky-high, watching while people on welfare eat better than they do by just watching them at the grocery stocked up on items in which the working person could never afford, etc.
Receiving welfare was meant at one time to be an assistant for a month or so til you could get a job, now it is nothing more than a career.
I worked at an indigent medical ctn. where many welfare moms and addicts on disability would come for free treatment and RX, they not only would boast about they did not work, they were not going to work. They wore expensive jewelry, they drove better cars,(NOT ALL but MOST). As one lady stated, my boyfriend (baby's daddy)bought this car because he makes a good salary where he works. So this is a double offense, dead beat dad not paying for his child and the mother taking advantage of it.
There is 722,000 in KY alone on Medicaid. There is over 300,000 in Ky alone on welfare benefits.
This is alot of people in one state who cannot find a job (or will not).
Shucks, I held one full time job and 2 part time with 2 children, no welfare, no child support. If I can do it, so can the others.
Ms.Chylloh,

I have worked since I was 16, had 3 boys, two are now in college and one a honor student. I was working up till January as a manager in a speedway, now I am here to tell you after being diagnosed with fibro, that I have made a living for my family, I had cancer I worked, I had alot of other medical problems I worked, I got fibro and have pain all over my body and all this welfare that you believe we receive you are wrong. My husband had three back surgeries is a disabled vet and is on disability, I cant work with thhis stuff because my mind is completely gone and i wet on myself not knowing i have to go to the potty, where is all these food stamps, medicaid , etc when i need it? I cant get it so i cant see a doctor,, afford meds that might help me, or therapy, give me a break, you do not know everything miss know it all, It takes two years to get disability, what do we do in the mean time, I think you need to study some more.

I recently read an article about fibro, I learned from the article there is a type of sugar (organic) that persons have seen magnificient results with. It relieves the pain/swelling in your joints. Along with the sugar a diet high in omega 3,6,9 & fruit based antioxidents. I can't remember the name of the sugar, but I'm sure if you googe you can find it. Anyway, one lady in particular was in such pain she could not vacuum her house. After just 3 weeks, she was out in the yard playing with her children.....getting all her daily chores done in 1/2 a day. She lost 70-lbs. Please don't think I am assuming you are obese, I don't assume anything. However the jist of the article was/is a proper diet, was key to successfuly beating the fibro condition....as it is for most ailments.

P.s. re, welfare/food assistance, in most states an elderly/disabled household is most often immediately approved.....for benefits.

I've read about the medication....numerous side effect, some of which can be deadly..I preference natural remedies. I believe everyone should have good Dr., and agree many need (and are kept alive) with prescribed medications. However, ailments that are related to poor diet and/or poor nutrition such as fibro, a host of digestive issues, skin problems etc. I believe in going for the natural cure instead.

Come on! You are more than welcome, Wolf Den! This little place I live is a virtual paradise to me. My brother googled up my address and it deadended in a pasture. I loved that, cause that is where I live!

Why are you ineligible for medical assistance? I can see that you're embarressed over your incontinence but are there appts you are missing to apply for it? There are special adult undergarments.... Why are you not able to get at least food stamps and medical assistance?

I hope today is a better day for you!

Me, too, boogs. I had a spell of early morning wakening several years back during a period of depression. I could take Valerian and go back to sleep within the hour usually. Once the depression resolved, I would just take it from time to time if feeling restless when I needed to go on to sleep. I love it. It works with no side effects for me. Have a great day, boogs!

I dont know how , when I have applied and been turned down twice for any benefits.I would really like to know about the diet, I really miss working and not being me . I want to work and be able to enjoy my family. Thanks for info i will search for it. but we have so many people saying they can cure this and we are so desperate to try that we can get into alot of trouble, my doctor wanted me to be a guinea pig and do the date rape drug but someone has to watch me 24/7and i dont have that since hubby was at gulf war and sleeps alot. Thanks for the input though , I will look for it.

They say my hubbys income is too much, being around 1400 for 3of us. my son gets medicaid , but we dont qualify for anything else due to us making too much. I do use the required things but working is not possible because I cannot shower every hour or so all day and I cant stand the things that come with this.

Have you taken (from your Dr.) verification of your medical conditions to DHS?$1400 per month for 3 people, is very little....do your rent or own your home? if you rent do you pay utilities? This really doesn't make sense. I know the rules have minor differences from state to state, yet at the same time eligibility requirements are generally calculated the same. Is it possible your bladder has dropped? if so, a minor surgery can correct (usually) you should talk to your dr., that in and of itself should at least get you emergency medicaid for surgery & recovery. As far as emergency assistance goes. If surgery isn't the answer, you could try specific exercises to alleviate if not correct, again talk to your Dr. about it. Some of the exercises can be lots of fun!! Go to some medical web sites, you can get tons & tons of helpful information....in laymans terms. Wishing the best for you!! Did you know stress can contibute to bladder problems? Check that out too....
