Yes, but my favorite D.H. Lawrence is "Etruscan Places," probably one of his lesser known works, but a great read.<quoted text>
Ever tried to read "Lady Chatterley's Lover",
for a change - have you???
Is Obama the antichrist?

Right! I didn't know about that book but will definitely put it on my "winter list" of books to be read this coming winter. Thanks ! D.H.Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover" was one of the biggest book news here several decades ago. It was a bit daring for it's time and created a lot of discussions amongst church folks from the south coast and west coast in Norway (that's where most of the Christian fundamentalists of our countries are keeping their pillar boxes). Now that book's daring chapters doesn't make youngsters of today lift even an eyebrow. The world has made progress indeed! |

How was your trip???? I am glad it was a safe journey and that you are back in here defending Obama, a man you can not even cast a vote for! LOL! Defend away my dear, dear friend. I am so sorry that you can not sway my mind. I just don't believe that you take from the rich and give to the poor. I do believe that IF you have alot, you help out others who have little but the government does not interfere with the gift. In this country you can make a profit by working hard and saving your bucks. LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU, SNJ!!!!! Keep up the good comments, you make us all reply to you and you alone----------DUH! LOL! |
I agree Bethie, I don't believe any government should tell anyone what to do with their monetary blessing....so long as it was earned honestly and with integrity. |

P.s. SNJ just loves to provoke thought!!!! and is very good at it.... |

1 WARNING: Don't make me blush another time, Bethie! I am not rich. I'm just an ordinary, lucky Norwegian. I have never been unemployed. I got some education which was good for it's time and I have tried to keep up with the development and changes during my life to the best of my ability. I am also very lucky because I have had a good health. I cannot remember last time I did not get to my job because of illness. Some times in life I got the flue as everybody else of course and had to stay in bed for some days. Some times a child got ill or injured and I had to attend to that there and then some times. Never any employer reduced my salary for the absence. I do not "defend" Obama but I am very interested in challenging the views presented against him. He does represent something that gets home with me. I have supported economically a number of charity needs but I have also seen organizations in name of charity that get too professional for my taste. Today I only support named, direct projects where the overhead does not run away with the lion's share of the gifts. My trip was a success! That is: the boys (14-15 yrs)had a wonderful week in London playing soccer against teams from "all"other countries. America, Asia,Africa, Europe. That is what gives soccer another (international) dimension versus your favorites (American football and baseball). The boys got a lot of time to meet new friends from all over the world (and a lot of nice girls playing football too!). I love England! We (the adults) had a great time too outside the soccer fields. So had your fellow American adults there too! Met a lot of nice American and Canadian parents and coaches. Something is really GOING ON in soccer in the USA ! By the way: Did you notice that the other day the Norwegian soccer girls won 2-0 against your girls in the starting (group) matches in the Olympics in China! Did you know that this time the American girls are ranked #1 candidates for the Olympic Gold medal 2008?(may be our girls will again be competing for that?!) Can you imagine: Tiny, little Norway (4,5 million people) beating USA (300 millions)? Kidding Bethie! There is a long way to go and many more matches to be played before the picture becomes clear! Wish you all the best of luck and fair play! |

1 I hear what you say, but since none of us will definitely not be around when the end is there I'd rather look at the more available ideas and solutions that will influence my own and "our"lives today in a better way. And I am convinced that the best walk is the one where we spend some time and attention on others than ourselves. Still we all have to live our own lives of course. that is why I - if I were an American today - would have taken the chance on voting for Obama (the Dems!). i do not believe the rigid Christian rules for life will ever find the best way through requirements to the societies, neither would any other religion. Religion is a very personal thing only, peace in mind in a way. And that is a human right, not something to decide a political agenda first and foremost. To use Obama's church and it's "priest" against him is merely absurd to me. But the argument eveidently works for the Reps so far?! And we allknow that in war and love anything is allowed...(?)- or is it? |

1 Do you know what "Judgement Day" is in Norwegian?: "Dommedag" - it's such a terrible, and old fashioned, instrument to use against people to oppress them.....It is psychologically mean just like the use of "Hell" as a destination for those who do not live as they are told God demand of them... I get the willies when somebody say things like you do. Sorry - but I am honest to you. |

1 I agree. In a nation where the men are short this guy stands out like a lightning rod. And no one has seen him in all this time? BS. I can't believe that Bush hasn't been impeached. |

2 i would like to be honest to you also,i have nothing against muslin or islamic faith, and again you are commenting on something that was not meant for you but since we are here now i'll tell you when the end comes there will be a rapture first this earth will don't be destroyed,he will call his people home, i know there are christians there in your country trying to teach the word to his people all his people even you,i read that in your country that they want to let a fatwa coucil decide to put to death gay people to death(punishable by death)so sad,i pray that you are a christain by faith.. if not i will pray for you and your family... |
