Also Wellness is a joke and we can get termed (terminated) for looking at someone wrong. Whenu take the drug test at westover job corps what do they do pull hair samples or pee in the cup ?

Since this is the most active area on the internet about job corps i ask you all (and i will continue to do so until i leave)what should i bring with me to turner jc? I already have clothes and personal hygiene items (including an awesome egyptian cotton towel). I will bring my mp3 player and maybe my too old to steal laptop. Should i bring anything else? Lock for locker? Fabric softener? Any and all replys will be greatly appriciated.

My son was in Job Corps Mammmoth Cave was stole from so mant times Also was laying in his bed when another student just hit him, well he in defence hit him back. What would any 20 year old do? Now he was sent home with all belongings waiting on a hearing. So he didn't get to stay for the next day hearing just sent home. Now I am very upset he said the black students which are 3 times the number of the white students can do what they want. when I would call to talk to him it sounded like a prison riot, he would have to go outside to talk. And also he said the place is dirty and nasty. I THINK JOB CORPS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED ALL OF THEM.

Are there drugs here and there on center? Of Course! But show me what high school or small town that does not have drugs? And just like anywhere else, your child has the decision to make whether to do drugs or not to do drugs. I say that i attended job corps in delaware valley in new york for 3 months. it was a ok experience. but the way they handled the drugs and alchol was horrible. there were people smoking pot and drinking in plain view. i mean cmon. there would be security walking 10 feet away from somebody doing something wrong and no body cared. i mean if they want to make it safe then maybe they should obey and reinforce the in my opinion the low standerds for their center. hopefully this makes a difference

Contact me Please Truth wrote: Got tired of reading the bull some of you are posting about frenchburg specifically. I have graduated from there and experienced it all. I do not feel like getting into details but will if needed. Let me start by saying if they drug tested all the teachers and students right now 80% would fail. How do the students get them? Well students can receive packages which are searched by a staff member before they can have them, but they miss the drugs stuffed inside of the "honeybun box" that is sealed back to make it look like its never been open. Also when they go on trips many locals will have there friends of even family bring them some. The best part. Go there now and see how many pregos you see. not conceived on "pass" as they call it but actually on center. Take a survey bet over 50% of students are sexually active on center... during school, lunch, breakfast, on the bus, in the dorm, in the bathrooms, behind the cafeteria... I could keep going. And the last thing I will say. No one gets a real education there. You do pages assigned to you. Fudge half the answers and you'll still pass because only random pages are actually checked. I do believe the vocational side is great but no one has careers like that after leaving here. Maybe a long time ago but after the 7 years or so there is not one person who has had a great job getting out. I'm almost certain 50 percent are unemployed. And the rest have minimum wage jobs or have gotten jobs on there own the have nothing to do with there trade.

Pine Knot Job corp is a great asset to McCreary County. They do not get enough credit for all they do. I think they are rated in the top 5 best job corp centers in the U.S.

I attended Earl C Clements Job Corps. I loved every day of it yes there were some hard times but you chose to surround yourself with postive ppl and do right . You chose the other route you will fail and become one of the problems students with no future. I got my CNA and HHA and did some business studies I even chose to stay longer . I was in the 400s and also was in a coed dorm there were a few of fights but we were.kids having to share rooms bathrooms and different backgrounds but like I said I loved every bet of it and even gained some friends to this day we learned each other and backgrounds that was the unique thang about it my RA I wish I could remember her name but she was great to us we all loved her we had the best dorm . I have a few pics of some friends that I would love.to find just don't know where to post . I'm a real ECCJC graduate 2001

Basically from what I gather from what people said about job corp, choosing what center you will attend will have an impact on your experience. I will live in Houston,TX and the two nearest center are North Texas and Gary which is notorious for being bad from what I read. I have read horror stories about kids getting jump, girls getting raped, drugs being openly done one federal property. How come no one has file a class action against Job Corp? There are minors who attend Job Corp yet they have minors in unsafe conditions although they promise they have "zero tolerate toward violence and drugs". It seems like these place are ran like prison, and tolerate the bad behavior because each person bring thousands of dollars to the place. I will try to see if I can go to one out of state that has positive reviews. Does anyone know anything about Job Corp North Texas? Thanks

You can call the Attorney Generals office of the state where the Jon corps center is located and file a complaint.

transplanted927 wrote: I will say it again...not all Job Corps are the same. If I were thinking about Job Corps I would try to get to a Forest Service run center and not a contract center. Again, this is my personal opinion. My Granddaughter is wanting to join the job corps and study culinary arts. She hasn't been in any trouble and is an honor student that will be a senior this fall. She is simply ready to do something with her life and wants a change. Can we choose the facility she wants to enroll at? We have read a lot about each of the locations and Pine Knot seems to be above average. She lives in West Tennessee and we definitely don't want Memphis. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! Rita (redrita0_4@yahoo.com)

The job corps do need to close down due to no positive results and the misappropriation of funds by staff. The crimes are serious and are hidden from the public. HIV is ramped on centers.
