Gov. Steve Beshear had called lawmakers back to the Capitol. He was angry that they ended their 2012 session late Thursday night without passing the two key bills that would appropriate money for road construction projects and attempt to curb overdose deaths from widespread prescription drug abuse in the state.

In my opinion, when our legislators fail to get their job done within the alloted time, having been given ample time, they should not be paid when called back. It costs thousands of dollars just for the support staff. The news stated that the cost to taxpayers is some $300 thousand per week which could be better spent on the state budget.
