LISA,

DEPENDING ON WHAT SCHOOL YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND AND WHERE IT IS LOCATED WILL DEPEND ON YOUR RENT. THERE ARE A LOT OF GOOD SCHOOLS TO ATTEND HERE IN KANSAS.

I THINK TO FIND THE RIGHT SCHOOL MAYBE YOU SHOULD CONTACT ONE OF OUR NEWS WEATHER PERSONALITIES TO SEE WHERE THEY WENT TO SCHOOL AND WHY THEY STAY IN KANSAS. TRY THIS LINK OUT OF WICHITA, KS. www.ksn.com THIS WILL ASLO GIVE YOU A LINK TO WHERE YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON IN KANSAS.

I was talking on the phone with a friend when your message came up on my computer. He has a cousin from Europe going to school in Kansas City. He told me that you must have a sponsor to go to shcool here in the United States and that you can only work on campus during the school year for the first three years. After that you can get a green card and work off campus.

I think $500.00 would get you a fairly decent place in Wichita. My house payment is $580.00 a month, and I have a three bedroom three bath in a very nice neighborhood. There are three universities in Wichita, but also several tech schools, and a community college.

The winters aren't too bad. The summers are very hot. I am not originally from Kansas, but I like it pretty much here. In Wichita, the people seem to mostly be from all over the country. A lot of people moved here to work in the aircraft plants and then stayed.

like cost of living?- I agree, it depends where in Kansas you live. If you are in a large college town, you should be able to get by with $500 rent. There are also a lot of opportunities for roomates in college towns such as Lawrence, Manhattan, Pittsburg, Wichita, Emporia, etc.

how much rent would be? If you are in a large college town, you should be able to get by with $500 rent. There are also a lot of opportunities for roomates in college towns such as Lawrence, Manhattan, Pittsburg, Wichita, Emporia, etc. I am from the Overland Park area... it is more towards $600+(for a studio or one bedroom) for an apartment. When I was in KCMO, we paid $800 for 2 bed/2 bath.

price of houses for size? This really, really varies depending if you are in the metro, in a more rural area, which city, etc. Maybe check out www.kcstar.com for cost of houses around the Kansas City area.

weather? Here are the monthly average highs and lows:
Jan -19 / 39 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 / 4 Celsius)
Feb - 24 / 44 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 / 7 Celsius)
Mar - 34 / 56 degrees Fahrenheit (1 / 13 Celsius)
Apr - 45 / 68 degrees Fahrenheit(7 / 20 Celsius)
May - 55 / 77 degrees Fahrenheit (13 / 25 Celsius)
June - 64 / 86 degrees Fahrenheit (18 / 30 Celsius)
July - 69 / 91 degrees Fahrenheit (21 / 33 Celsius)
Aug - 66 / 89 degrees Fahrenheit (19 / 32 Celsius)
Sept - 58 / 81 degrees Fahrenheit (14 / 27 Celsius)
Oct - 48 / 70 degrees Fahrenheit (9 / 21 Celsius)
Nov - 35 / 55 degrees Fahrenheit (2 / 13 Celsius)
Dec - 24 / 42 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 / 6 Celsius)
Snow and ice in Nov/Dec/Jan; Lots of rain in April/May; tornadoes in late spring and summer; Fairly humid in the summer; Beautiful leafs in the Fall; Pretty much a good variety of the seasons.:)

jobs? I would recommend looking for jobs on kchasjobs.com , careerbuilder.com (which the KC Star lists their positions at) or monster.com .

universities? The largers Universities would be the Univesity of Kansas in Lawrence (yeah KU!), Kansas State University in Manhattan, Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Emporia State University in Emporia, Witchita State University in Witchita, Washburn Univsity in Topeka, Fort Hays State University in Hays, Ottawa University in Ottawa, Baker University in Baldwin City... the list goes on. Those are all Four-year colleges and Universities.

Kansas sucks, it's one of the worst states in the whole country and is full of meth heads and meth labs (drugies). Do yourself a favor and move to the east coast or the west coast...stay far far away

My question is if you are so unhappy here in Kansas why are you still here?
There are a lot of good things about this state. Get out and discover the people and the history. It sounds like you would find fault no matter where you lived.

Not that I think people are terribly rude elsewhere, however I feel that people are generally friendlier in the Midwest. I notice it shopping, in public places and even how personable people are with their neighbors.

There's no place like home.(Okay, someone had to say it!)

Knight - I am ignorant. What does "QFE" stand for?
MY question is, if you are so unhappy where you are, what are you doing to make it better?

Daily Horoscope for February 12

Pisces

You may be the recipient of many blessings as the Moon heads towards Scorpio; these could be financial blessings but they are just as likely to be spiritual. Most Pisceans know that the law of cause and effect works in their favor; as they give, so shall they receive. If you can bless others with your time, love, and money, it will come back to you multiplied. Have faith in the wisdom of the universe.
