You really do care more about animals than your fellow mankind. That is rather sad. Bet you don't have very many friends that don't have four legs and fur. You can't tell me that if you were starving to death on the brink of dying you wouldn't consume horse meat. I don't believe a word of that. You have no more right to tell others not to eat horse meat, than I have to tell you not to eat lettuce or potatoes. It is a matter of personal choice.

I just don't understand why people feel horse slaughter is so EVIL. I feel it is a way to reduce the horse population and use a resource that would otherwise be wasted. I just do not like to see things go to waste. I think there are some really great programs out there that rescue abused horses, and that is wonderful. They can only handle so many.

are you going to fund that? where does that money come from? Tax payer dollars I bet. Let's keep feeding thousands of useless horses and spend mine and my neighbors hard earned money on it too. Sounds Brilliant! I think kill plants could maybe donate so much per horse they slaughter to horse rescue funds. Then all would be happy. It would have to be a reasonable amount that would still enable the plant to make a profit.

that money comes from donations, taxes e.t.c.it is a much better idea than murdering horses.

I think that you like to argue just for the sake of arguing. You can't see gray, you see black and white I guess. It's either wrong or it's right huh? I haven't seen you cough up any money for these horses. I think you are blowing smoke. You talk big, but do nothing to help your cause besides work at some rich persons stables. Get the rich stable to buy some rescue horses, bet they have some pretty expensive horses standing in stalls eating hay. Bet not many of them are plain jane unpapered horses are they? Horses you are supposedly crusading for.

yes you are right we do have some very expensive horses at the stables. most of them race horses and all are handled with extremwe care.we look after all the horses very well.we currently have 10 rescue horses most are either under weight or hav been saved off the bake of mean wagons.so there you have it. i do do my bit to help horses.we even have fund raising days where we can donate as much money as we like to helping horses.and dont think that i dont donate anything because i usually donate about £500 or +.

That's great that you support horses that are abused. Most horses sold for slaughter aren't underweight though. They just wouldn't fetch as much at the sale barn. Not every horse is usable and a good horse. I don't see anything wrong with having a couple horses as pets or lawn ornaments...there are just TOO many of them. Horse meat isn't taboo in every country. Some countries eat lots of horse meat. I don't think it is any ones right to determine what another human consumes as food. I am not a fan of eating bugs, but in some countries it is considered a main staple of food. Each to his/her own. Horses, sheep, etc are not different. each country has their own rituals and ideas of what is considered food. Horse meat is also a very good source of iron and is actually more healthy than a lot of other meat animals. Many people such as you cannot see them as any thing other than pets. But than can serve as a food source for people as well.

haha!! no i am not a vegetarian!!so if the horses that are slaughtered are capible of becoming a usefull horse then we should not slaughter them just because they wont sell for very much at the sales barn!!evry horse is worht more than it looks it is!!after all its not what's on the out side that counts its on the inside!!

Slaughtering is for losers. I feel like hurting the slaughters, so they get a taste of their own medicene. Think about it. Foals and mothers are separated. Most of the race horses are slaughtered. YOU SUCK YOU ---- slaughters

While yes slaughtering is a huge problem what would you suggest we do with all the horses that are not slaughtered. The horse market is in the ditch right now no one wants to buy and everyone wants to sell. if by any means you think you can support each and every horse sent to slaughter please inform me on how because i would love to do the same but the simple fact of it is that horses are expensive animals and people don't have the money to properly care for them any longer. personally I would rather see a horse die than live in conditions that make them sick the rest of their lives. torchering a living being is much less humane than killing them so they do not have to suffer.

Horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park were recently rounded up. About 70ish horses were sold I believe. The remaining mares in the band were given a contraceptive to slow their reproduction. These horses were expanding in numbers each year and damaging their habitats. I think that this is a proactive choice in reducing the numbers of unwanted horses in the world. I am still in favor of horse slaughter, but I do however realize there are some choices that can be made to reduce the numbers of colts being born each year.

They are animals. Human babies are eventually weaned from their mothers too. Have you ever watched a mare wean a colt on her own. She is down right nasty to her colt, she bites it, kicks it, runs it off. They are animals, NOT humans they are not capable of human emotion. You'd rather hurt another human being, but can't handle a horse being slaughtered for human consumption. You are the one who is sick. You'd rather see a horse suffer from abuse, starvation, etc than see it slaughtered humanely?

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
