I've had people ask me why did Americans vote for Bush ! Initially I answered, the option was worse. After is second election we were viewed as a nation of idiots. Americans cannot be loyal to parties, we have to elect the wisest choice.

Most of these people bought with no money down anyway and many were trying to flip for profit and got caught in a down cycle. Is the goverment supposed to bail out people who lose money in business and the stock market too?

If all these polls showing defections from the Democrats hold up, then you are talking millions of votes for McCain. We have 30% of Hillary supporters voting for McCain, which is roughly 4 million votes. If that holds up, then McCain could win in a walk. A possible 40-state landslide.
As for moderates, every poll I have seen show that the Wright controversy has hurt Obama badly. They now look at Obama as being an extremist, like it or not. He is losing ground with white blue-collar workers because of it.
He is going to lose in Pennsylvania, and perhaps even North Carolina, and has yet to win a single primary in a large Democratic state except for Illinois. At least he carried his home state. Gore did not.
He seems to be stronger in states he is not going to win, like Mississippi and Wyoming, than he is in Blue states. Winning caucases means little in a general election. I think he has peaked, and the aura has worn off. A good speech only goes so far. Overall, I think he is a weak candidate.
Dick Morris said recently that the Democrats "are stuck with him."
