You need to pipe down. I have been in five years less than you and what you say is somewhat true. What the hater says is 60 percent not true. He/She is entitled to feel like that. You know how Chicago will turn you into a drone. Also, come on man, dont sweeten it up for people. Then Navy has people like yourself, who feel they deserve something for being tenured. No ...u deserve nothing but respect for the job well done so as do I. It took a while to realize it too for me. He does matter to me in my Navy no matter how angry and jaded he/she feels right now. They are all our Sailors. I get very angry and mad at the Navy and yes its sucks total ass. I feel cheated cause I gave ten years of my life to an organization that will willingly send my cohorts to war with faulty body armor to be slaughtered. I hate been engaged by assclown idiots who got beat up all threw high school then the Navy puts khakis on them an now they are gangstas all of a sudden. The Navy has bad shit about it, more bad than good..and you know it so break his balls (hater I mean) but dont leave out the shitty parts of the Navy too. I totally understand your love for the Navy too. I used to have that love, but being fucked around by superiors made serving my country more of a Master/Slave relationship than a patriotic one.

The Navy is the worst thing anyone can do to them selves, it really SUCKS!!! I spent 6 long years in the Navy and I could not wait to get out, it was like being in prison. There is lots of idiot chiefs that have no clue what the real world is like.

Wow I just spent the past hour reading the guestbook on the www.funtimenavy.com website. Anyone thinking about joining the Navy should read all the hundreds of complaints by the sailors on that site before talking to a recruiter. I sure wish I did. |

then you will get many more stories about the Real Navy not in the commercials. |

first of all for all of you that are not in the navy or are speaking on behalf of your siblings you do not know the first thing about the miltary so stop trying to justify it. second if your on a surface ship congrats u made a better and easier choice than i did(that also goes for commissioned officers) so i dont see what you're complaining about either. Let me just say the new and improved navy is horrible it is filled with so many rules and uneccesary regulations it is sad. more time is spent comptiplating over procedures and permissions than actually finishing work loads. Many of you probably have the same opinion the military is WACK for those of you that dont i hope u eventually see the light.

The Navy will ruin your life in one way or another. I did my time, honorably with several medals and commendations. That does not negate the fact of the BS that is the US Navy. Anyone thinking of joining do yourself a favor and join another branch, any of them, does not mater which they are all better. If not be prepared for bored 'khakis' looking to fuck over your life just for their amusement. I saw it happen way too many times.

Hidden behind false patriotism and pseudo warrior cliche's. So before you tell someone to be honorable challenge them first to a duel then you can tell them to be honorable. Because without doing so you are being classist. Meaning what you are saying is you are of a higher standard than another. "Do what I say" You are wrong first you must prove that you are a better human being. And since no one is better than another you have to duel. |

Hey everyone, Im currently in the Navy, for about 5 months so far. Im going to tell you the straight up facts about it, from what I've gathered so far. First off, the pay is peanuts, so don't join for the money, at least not as a single with no dependents like me. Im a third class petty officer which in 6 months is pretty good, I got it because I did well in my A School and they promoted me. Second, If you have a college degree and want to join the Navy, more power to you, because no matter how high you get in the enlisted ranks you will never be equal to or greater than an LT, unless you are a master chief, which requires about 20 years I think to get if you are lucky. Third, the navy so far has been pretty good to me, in terms of pain/pleasure. Boot Camp was kind of rough, but it is supposed to be rough and I knew that heading into it, which is why it was relatively easy for me. A School for IT's (my rate) was pretty easy for me, and I excelled here because I already had a preexisting knowledge of computers. I am about to head off 2 years overseas to Europe for shore duty, and then either will get another shore duty assignment or sent to a carrier. At this project rate that Im heading, I should be E-5 upon leaving the service, which for 4 years is pretty good. The GI bill is a nice bonus if you dont have the funds to pay for college in the first place. Also you can earn college credits online or on campuses while you are stationed at shore commands, so you could probably get a AA or close to it in 3 years of casual attendance. Now about what you do in the navy. First, its nothing like they show in the commercials, but hey...its a commercial meant to attract massive quantities of people. The guys they show on the commercials are Seals or SWICC, basically the guys that use stealth and carry out top secret missions in IRAQ,AFGAN. I havent done anything rate (job) specific yet, but that is probably since I have only been to boot/a school. The work that I've done involves cleaning,swabbing,mopping,wipi ng down, and scrubbing them toilets lol. Basically, dont expect to do what you signed up for unless you make rank fast and get to E-5. Which most people do not get within 4 years of enlistment. Well, sorry for the long post haha, but if you guys have any comments or whatever, just post below me.

I don't worry about free handouts as I never got any from any rich white guy. Never got a job from a rich white guy. Third I do not need to follow any agenda to keep my freedom. I make my own freedom. Being in the military I learned that not to follow. Because people will lead you astray. So one has to be independent. I am not worried about a muslim taking away my freedom. I am more worried about the police and military at home taking it away. These organizations are way more dangerous to our freedom and way of life than any terrorist can be. |

I noticed the sailors with the IT rate seem fairly happy. The saying goes "Choose your rate, choose your fate".
One of my friends is an IT, and actually likes the Navy. Seems like an easy job considering they spend most of the day sitting in front of a computer. |
