Ga. High Court Hears Consensual Teen Sex Case

This young man is a victim of sexual discrimination. There were 2 under-age people engaged in that act, why is he the only one who went to jail? What about her role?

The law is an ass!! It's the law that should be on trial here!

That is ridicules. Wilson should have never gone to prison for a sexual act that was consensual.

first were is the young girl in this story? did she understand that by her simply wanting to exeriment sexually that she posed a risk to this gentalman? yet again it was their right to choose to do what they did! even at 15 a girl fully understands what she is doing. I KNOW I DID!! and and as for the young man, he should know his lesson by now. There is no reason to continue comparing him to older men with more life experiance whom preformed much more harenise crimes. there is a difference in two teenagers having sexual experimentation and a man cruely taking avantage of a child. this is aparently not the case here.

The struggle to balance criminal justice system continues as legislatures pass mandatory sentenceing to manage liberal courts and then unintended consequences force redress. Statutory rape law removes common sense, while mandatory sentences create injustice we see in this case. The best that can be done is remove both from the books and judge each case on its merits.

As recently as the late 1930s, newly fledged pre-teens and teens carried out sexual experimentation, the younger ones "playing doctor" as part of what seems to be a natural srep in growing up. However, we didn't have, then, the barrage of "if it feels good do it" entertainment and media to accelerate and complicate the process. As with traffic infractions or cannabis use,(to name but two) the crime seems to be getting caught, not the act itself. Let us hope that the justices remember the "who can pee highest on the barn" or "my willy's bigger than your willy" contests of their own pre-puberty days!

I do not understand how a teenage boy is put in prison for 10 years, has his face and name plastered on the news and internet, for consensual sex with someone his age. Is the girl in prison and plastered all over the internet? How is this justice? I am a female and not young and I think this is an atrocity!

The ten year sentence was a bit much. Maybe a year or two for both parties involved.
Frankly, most women hate to give oral sex and do it only to keep a boyfriend.

That Wilson spent even one DAY in jail is a travesty. They shouldn't just release him. The Governer needs to give him a full pardon, and the prosecutor should publically apologize to Wilson, His Family, and the Girls Family, who have been steadfastly behind Wilson the entire time.

I'd like to know a little more about the case. "Oral sex" cuts both ways. Was she "doing" him or was he "doing" her?

Theres no point in putting him in jail, especially if they are close in age and neither person was forced to do something they don't want to do. In reality no matter what any adult, court, or others say teens are going to have sex anyway. I feel he was discriminated.

The bane of a judiciary in a constitutional democratic republic is idiotic laws. When some of the common people in a democracy grow perturbed about the failures of ordinary customs to prevent untoward behavior by people outside their classes or cliques, they too frequently decide, with too little thought, that "there ought to be a law." Such a demand is like a second helping of pie for the normal politician, who will holler for the issue for a couple of terms and them oversee the enactment of another impossible law, ill drafted and prone to injustice. "THE PEOPLE" can be capricious tyrants, too, even when they are more concerned with an abstract "JUSTICE" than with a predictable legal code. But an unpredictable legal code is is a primary attribute of DESPOTISM.

Quite possibly, you all shall see perfect laws in Heaven. I have only a hope, which I cherish.

It doesn't say whether the girl is black or white.But I would be willing to bet she is white. Because if she were black, it probably would never have gone to court.

Perhaps Monica Whatshername could be persuaded by a "Public Service Law Firm" to file a Friend Of The Court Brief clearing up some of the feminine attitudes toward, and technical processes of, heterosexual fellatio (consensual, of course). It is possible that some Georgia Public Officials, legislative and judicial, lack an understanding of this (recently) wide-spread, if mild, sexual perversion.

This is just one more example of how we as a society have lost our minds. It seems that collectively, we are no longer capable of rational thought. Come on now, how many reading this post would admit that as 15,16,or 17 year olds we'd be looking at say 140 years or so for doing the same thing as Wilson and his girlfriend....pleeeez!
