Kool smiles is a horrible company what they do to kids is horrifing I worked for kool smiles in boston They need to have a investigation done just like small smiles. They are probally loosing there contracts with these because of the numerous complaints they have receivec from scard parents look into it if I was you. Those faces on the clip look very familliar both dentist. I would never bring my children there ever again. I rather go to the dental offices that have been established for more than 20years in boston that is.

I agree. The dentists are motivated by making money. One dentist put a two year old child in a papoose board which renders the child unable to move and did over $1000 worth of work so the dentist could get a percentage. Another dentist was tewlling people's children to shut up. I would never take my child there and allow him or her to be subjected to such treatment.

Anything less than a Dentist conducting the screening is invaluable. DH or DA's are just not experienced enough and remember the goal here is to recruit more customers. Once the customer information is gathered they will be called to the point of no return.

I took my 2 and a half year old son to kool smiles in columbus georgia and they said he needed all this work and wanted to do it that day. They did 5 root canals and 5 caps on his teeth. They said he was good and fell asleep during the work. Well I heard my son screaming running up the hall toward me and dropped his car ( which he never lets go) and grabbed my neck so tight he almost choked me. I asked how long he had been screaming and she said just since he woke up. That was really all she said. Well on his right arm he had this big welt mark and it looked like a big rubber band mark on his arm that finally disappeared 3 days later. Dhr couldn't do anything about that. What can I do? I have pictures of and the blood on the side of his face. Help me STOP CRUEL SMILES!

I agree with all of you. They suck my daughter was visiting her father and we knew of a tooth that had a cavity, her at home dentist said he would spare her the pain and trauma because the tooth was getting ready to fall out. he took her to kool smiles b/c she was having some pain convinced him she needed two teeth filled and two fillings and did them all that very day, with her screaming and kicking she came home jsut to tell me that the dentist held her down and ripped her teeth out. Talk about a bill they ran up when she just had a regular check up with her dentist at home less than a month prior

Yall better just be glad you have a dentist you can go to that will take your insurance. Cavities and toothaches are not to be taken lightly. A word of advise, if its hurting, you waited too long. I work in a dentist's office and the cases we see where major work has to be done is on the kids whose PARENTS dont take them to the dentist every 6 months like you're supposed to.. I mean, come on, its free!!!

Why would you let someone do root canals on a child that is going to loose their baby teeth when they grow older? Why would you leave your child in there by himself? My kids are 10 and 11 and I still stay with them when they are having their teeth checked. I don't mean to put the blame on just you but I fault both you as a parent and the dentist. PLEASE, have this place investigated so that this will not happen to another child. I hope that you kept the pictures and the invoice to show what they done to your son.

KOOL SMILES DOES NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO GO IN THE BACK WITH THE KIDS! PARENTS MUST WAIT IN THE LOBBY!
I work for kool smiles and the whole operation is shit. The staff doesn't give a shit about you kid or their job, the doctors make all the money based on how many procedures they get by with billing the insurance for. Money is the only concern..

I can tell you from first hand experience that Kool Smiles and Small Smiles aggressively treat a lot of their patients....meaning a crown vs. a filling. I cannot say that they are completely in the wrong. Many of these children may require this due to their premature development of cavities or "high risk" status.
Unfortunately, these kids (sometimes as young as 2 years of age ) are strapped to a papoose board to complete this type of work. Often urinating on themselves during the procedure....very sad. The only time a papoose should be used is for an emergency procedure...draining an facial abscess or removing an infected tooth, etc. This is a device that is routinely used in a hospital emergency room. Since these clinics offer no sedation (except for nitrous), do not employ an anesthesiologist, or take children to a hospital for sedation or general anesthesia (which Medicaid pays for) they rely heavily on the papoose board They will rarely refer out to a specialist that has access to sedation because that is considered lost revenue. Kool Smiles is also a strong advocate of "no parents in the rooms where they render treatment".
I can also tell you that these folks could give a crap about "helping the children". Kids represent a dollar or a "unit"....using their own terminology. There are plenty of pediatric dentists practicing in the states where Kool Smiles, Small Smiles, and Ocean Dental operate. Please contact the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY (ONLINE) if you need help locating one of these clinicians. Few to none of the dentists treating these children are pediatric dentists. The dentist who started Kools Smile..Tran and Pham are not. The interesting thing is that these two jokers used to work for Small Smiles and admittedly stole their business model and opened up their own chop shop. While they no longer own these s@4t holes they are still working for the corporation that does. These corporations are using your children to fill their pockets. Few to none of the dentists who work for them are true pediatric dentists (a specialty of dentistry that requires an additional 2-3 years of training after one graduates from dental school). This is actually a big deal. Be suspicious of places that advertise themselves as general dentistry for children. They cannot legally say pediatric dentist on their sign...so if it lacks this wording they are not specialists (which makes a huge difference in how your children are treated).

I am so happy to have come across this page. In 2003 my kids had an aweful experience at Kool Smiles. I am still rectifing the damage that they caused for my childrens teeth. It is a God Aweful place and they should be burned down. They take advantage of the assurance of government health care and abuse the children. I have reported them to the Attorney Genrals Office and urge everyone to do the same. Kool Smiles is Kruel!!!!!! They only had asian dentist when we were there and i think they should be tried and put to death or have all there money taken and sent back to asia.

You go to HELL. Just because a parent has been neglectful or has medicaid doesnt give the dentist the right to abuse the children. Someone should tie you up and pull your teeth out without drugs.
