I'm in Middleburg, FL and my neighbors let pit bulls run lose harassing and lunging at me my two dogs, pug 16LBS...Chihuahua 8LBS...and break into our outdoor kitchen stealing food...I think they don't feed them everyday! And we asked them nicely but they just laugh! I am really worried about my kids safety! What should I do without getting hurt by my neighbors!

Doesn't matter how you raise a genetically bred killer. The worm is always in-there ... turning ... waiting ... for some trivial incident. Then it SNAPS and an innocent is ravaged by your NBK ! And all your ego_involved simpering and excuse-making make NO DIFFERENCE, Your PIT/ROT/DOB dog is an NBK! Owners of NBKs whose dogs attack ought to get raped financially and sentenced to HARD-TIME.

What should I do without getting hurt by my neighbors! each and every time you see them call either the police or the dog catcher, state they are pits in a PACK and you fear for your children, dogs and own saftey, if the owners of the damm dogs can not be bothered to keep them under control then you need to take action to keep your family safe, and thats from an owner of a pit........it is MY job to keep her under control and both safe from others and others safe from her, and IF my dog was out and about lunging at other animals / people then it would be my own fault should it end up with her being taking away from me. If when you call, they are blaise and a bit dimissive, ask for their name and tell them that should your child / animals be injured then you will be SURE to make sure that the authories KNOW that "so and so" did not seem to take your complaint seriously or even care that much, you will be amazed at how fast THAT comment will get a response, as they KNOW you would be able to sue them for not taking action when asked to.

Nobody could have said it better than you! No, not all pits are killers, but many are, so it is the obligation of the owner to keep watch over them. You are man enough to accept responsibility. Unfortunately, most of today's generation believes in entitlement without accountability. I applaud you!

I'm sure they remember the woman who was killed in Middleburg the fall of 2007 by her own "two" Pit Bulls. I remember hearing the 911 on call on TV like it was yesterday.

I agree we have to do something about the BSL. I live in Dade County and I own a beautiful 7 year old blue fawn female pitbull. She is the most loving dog you could ever meet. I have never been able to even walk my dog down the street and it kills me inside that I can't even take my dog out for a walk. I would love to send an E-mail to the law makers. I just dont want anything traced back to me because of where I live.

The evidence that the breed is aggressive and dangerous is overwhelming. Most of the fatal dog attacks in this country are by pit bulls followed by rottweilers. The dogs were bred to be aggressive and it's not the just the way the dog is raised. They are violent by nature. Anyone that has one of these dogs is living with a dangerous predator.

I live in Jacksonville and i have found out something aweful. There is a rescue program in Palatka that adopted out 3 bulls to people that should never even have a dog much less a bull. This agency just sent these people home with a pack of dogs..2 females and one male to a couple with much damage mentally from too much drug abuse earlier on in life..These dogs are un approachable and have all biten someone..one guy lost his lip. It's being kept a secret becaue they know theyll take the dogs away..which should happen. These people in Palatka are clueless about adoptable parents of bulls. These dogs need lots of exercise and prefferable a job doing something of which they were bred for...working a farm and cattle. I may turn these people in. The other day the owner asked me to shoot his dog because the dog was eating another dog. These may be great dogs in the correct hands but in the wrong hands...death can happen.

Hello Everyone- I would like to know if pet friendly hotels can ban pit bulls in CA? Like other pit owners, I have also been a target of discrimination because I own a pit bull, you wouldn't believe the comments "you're dog will attack you in your sleep," "you're dog looks mean." HIPPOCRATS, and my pit has been bitten by a chihuhua and almost attacked by an English Springer and she did nothing in return!
The media has a lot of influence over the BSL, it's funny how they pick and choose what they want to air about pit bull attacks, what the media doesn't tell you are the success stories of pit bulls, how they can be therapy dogs and save peoples lives.
WOW, is this what America has come to? Some third world country?? Not only do we need to stand up against the BSL in every state, we need advocate against pit bull fighting, it all starts with the shelters - screen your dog buyer, criminal background checks, and follow up visits, I can tell you my local shelter isn't doing this. Shelters need to use good judgement and exercise caution, we can deter pit bull fighting with this process.
I will be attending the Auburn, CA council meeting as they want to impose the BSL (which is illegal to impose in CA). 4 pits attacked a 17 year old kid but what the media forgot to tell you is that the owner took no responsibility or had the competency in handling these pits in the past. BLAME THE OWNER NOT THE BREED! It could have been 4 labs in the same conditions.
STAND UP AMERICA, it will only get worse if we don't campaign against the BSL.
Thank you, Kristin from West Sacramento, CA

Thank you, Kristin from West Sacramento, CA Any private establishment can ban whatever damn animals they want. It's their place, right? You have NO right to own or possess an inherently dangerous animal if the law defines pitbulls as such. Get over yourself, grow up, and stop endangering others with your selfishness and obstinancy.

It amazes me how some people can allow their own ignorance and fear to lead them around by the nose while keeping them completely blind to reality. Fact - all dogs are meat eaters (like humans). Fact all dogs can bite and attack (like humans). Fact any HUMAN can attempt to turn ANY DOG into a fighting dog and/or make it vicious while that same dog may not necessarily become that (again just like humans in how some parents treat their kids and end up with psychotics or sociopathics). Fact dogs can be trained the right way or wrong way and behavior depends on training 95+% of the time (just like humans). Reality is that the breed of the dog does not mean anything in how the animal will turn out. The major determining factor in how a dog turns out is in how it is trained. Again all of this is just like the human race. The ignorant things that I read hear and I hear out of peoples mouths amaze me since it is within the same ignorant excuse making thinking of the 1700's over racism.
It amazes me the things that you dont hear about in the news about this breed. IE a serial rapist broke into a friends home. It was just her and her daughter home. Her husband (A Sherriff) was at work. The 14 month old pit bull (new mother also with litter of 6) growled the serial rapist (who had a gun) out of the house while my friend called 911. Because of the dog growling the serial rapist out the door my friend and her daughter are alive today, how many unkonw other women were not violated and/or killed by a serial rapist who was captured (in the yard), and the news completely bypassed the fact that a pit bull saved their lives because the news lady was afraid of the hero dog.
While you bad mouth this breed you bad mouth a hero. But then again maybe you think Osama is your friend too despite the fact that he master-minded the death of over 20k Americans over the span of 25 years...
