So, my wife and I bought a dozen today - very happy (the best cupcakes we've had ever and we have had a lot of places cupcakes - we especially loved the RED VELVET and the vanilla).
And yes, the cupcakes are in price with the other places around tampa.(Wrights cake is $33 for 8 servings of a ckae, Pappas is $4 a slice of cake, blah, blha) so it is the same.... but the quality of the cupcake spot is os much better.... What we don't get is, why the negative reviews. PEOPLE, WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT LOVING A CUPCAKE? These taste great - they are for something special. Here's whats strange! I spend $4 every day on coffee at starbucks which is just coffee beans and water, and these go way beyond the buck than Starbucks in taste and value. They are way better than a cup of caffeine with whipped cream on top, but I buy that too. Good luck to you! You have a lifwelong fan! Anyway, cupcakes are for happy so people, get happy. They taste awesome! Get on board! |

1 Ah, the service industry... I, myself, am in the industry and have borne the brunt of disgruntled individuals twice in my career: the first time, I was accused of using the "n" word to an African-American woman and once by a woman who informed my manager that I was "slow and rude." Both accusations were pure fantasy. No, I was not present when Moni went to the cupcake spot, but I've been there three times now, found the owners and staff to be incredibly nice and think it not just unlikely, but IMPOSSIBLE that people just starting out a business would tell a customer "We will not make you a product that we opened this store specifically to make and sell" and then laugh at her. I think it is much more likely that she feels that special sense of entitlement that spoiled grown-up kids feel when people don't trip over themselves to do for them. Either that, or she works for one of their competitors. Indeed, what she "shared" with us was a brat's fantasy, if she even went there at all! |

I HAVE WANTED TO STOP IN AND TRY A CUPCAKE, BUT EVERYTIME I STOP IT IS CLOSED, NO PROBLEM... MAYBE I STOP ON THE SAME DAY OF THE WEEK AND IT A DAY THE SHOP IS CLOSED??? SO I THINK LET ME GO ON LINE AND TRY TO FIND THEIR HOURS BECAUSE I CAN'T REMEMBER THE HOURS THAT WERE POSTED. AND ALL I CAN SAY IS " O MY GOD PEOPLE GET A FREAKN LIFE!!! THIS IS WHAT GROWN BRATS ACT LIKE!!!

My husband, daughter, and I visited The Cupcake Spot after I read a newspaper article about it. The cupcakes were average, nothing special. The employee who waited on us was friendly enough. The owner was also there. She was unfriendly and dismissive, which I found to be an odd way for a small business owner to behave in front of customers. She acted as if she was highly annoyed that we asked to eat the cupcakes at the store. For those of you who assume I must expect too much from the service industry and expect to be treated like a queen, forget about it! I have worked in customer service for many years. It is not that hard to plaster a smile on your face for 30 seconds. For a better cupcake experience, go to Cupcake CUPCAKES! in Westchase.

if you spend more than 50 cents for a single cupcake, especially in these tough economic times...then you're an idiot. every one of you.
