Some of your comments that you guys are posting are just as ignorant as the situation that has taken place. True racism will not go away but no one in their right mind will just sit back and let this happen to them. And for the comment for mr. always thinks he's right you are pathetic and a waste of life as well as the others who think that racism is a joke. Just because the other kid that was involved was black, it doesnt mean that it was a hate crime. How could it not be, everyone knows what KKK symbolizes. If some black children wouldve done it to a white kid, it wouldve been just as bad. Im a white woman and I still dont see why when white people do things, they think that its alright. Its always justified in some sort of way. Its not alright to do things to people just because they are a different race. Wrong is wrong. Not all black people are they ways that you describe them. There are good and bad people in all races. I always dont agree when blacks say harsh things about whites. Dont HATE white people, just DISLIKE some of them because of your experiences with them. When I read some of the post that I read, I see ignorance on both sides

Only one of the seven perpetrators were black, and the article does not say that the black kid wrote these hate symbols on the other kid, only that he helped hold him down. Maybe it was peer pressure on the part of the black perp, but this is CLEARLY a hate crime. If it was just kids being kids they would have wrote/drew other offensive things on him (penises, bad words, etc). Deaf people do read, you know. They know words like "fuck" and "shit" and "stupid", which makes more sense in the context of "kids being kids" or simple bullying. Writing and drawing symbols associated with rascism, genocide and lynching makes it a hate crime.

Yeah, but if black kids did this to a white kid (let's say a JEW - also hated by the KKK) it would never be considered a hate crime. As a matter of fact Al and Jessie would probably show up and praise the kids as heroes. No wonder race is still so divisive - so called civil rights leaders can't even back up the right people.

Yeah, just because Jessie and Al pull the race card about unnecessary things sometimes doesn't stop what happened to this kid as a hate crime. I'm not saying hate all white people and I know there was a black kid involved. But it still doesn't take away the fact that they did a mean and hateful thing!
