People just hate it when someone makes a killing on a job like this. These guys have a good gig. I guess all good things come to an end.

Glad to see someone is doing well. Don't worry, the state will tax the crap out of them to make up for the deficit.

Better yet! Taxicut!

obscene - one word.
Except there is more ...the marshall system is flawed - has long been,“a who you know system”, and has been incestuous. So if this article does not stimulate debate on how to dismantle and repair the obviously flawed system then nothing will.
Replace them with non political jobs that have set scales. They really are paper janitors.

WTF ..

I always thought "State" Marshalls were state employees.

Just put the guys on the public payroll, and do away with all this BS.

Another gov't program run amok.

This is absolute corruption. The state creates the system that enables these handful of individuals to make seven-figure incomes. Do these people deserve this kind of money? I think not. I wish I had a job that easy - driving around the state to deliver papers or staple them to a door. Good investigative reporting by the Courant.

I am sure all these fees from serving foreclosure papers are passed on to the unfortunates who are losing their homes and if they want to save their home then they have to pay these fees in addition to what the bottom feeding leeches from these law firms are charging.
How are these guys appointed Marshals and do they have any fees they have to pay to stay in their jobs. If not, time to charge them a licensing fee of 50%.

Fiorillo will not discuss his income or business arrangements, according to a woman at his office who would not give her full name or title.

"I will definitely give him the message, but he definitely will not have a comment for you," she said. "I've already been instructed to say that we have no comment."

It sounds like the leech has something to hide.

Any job dealing with the law always has some type of corruption that usually starts at the top! Still waiting for the courant to investigate the CSU System Police Departments and all their "perks"...start at CCSU!

Why is everyone so upset that one man has developed a profitable business? Nowhere is there ANY allegations that he is doing ANYTHING wrong.

The state could follow Massachusetts' example and set up a mini-police department Sheriff system, but most of the MA Sheriff's are running a (TAXPAYER FUNDED) defecit.

This is free enterprise at its best, those who do a good job get rewarded.

CLASS ENVY. Or,, just as likely, just a Democratic ploy to further socialize our state.

Before anyone jumps off the handle and screams corruption, it is definitely possible that these marshals could be making that much money - with these foreclosure actions with multiple creditors as defendants, the cost of serving process on each defendant can be quite high. Keep in mind too that these marshals, once they get the writ in hand, are committed to serving the writ (oftentimes trying to serve someone in-hand who does not want to be served or trying to track down a company or business or agent of service who is not in the same location as listed with the Secretary of State). And they work nights and weekends trying to accomplish service of process. Fiorillo must have several employees helping him - there is no way anyone could serve process every 15 minutes by himself. Still that seems like a lot of money for one marshal to be making.

There should be an investigation as to how these two law firms get all the foreclosure work from the banks. There are thousands of lawyers in CT but only two lawyers get any foreclosure work. That sure is strange. How is it that the banks do not have a competitive bidding process which would enablethem to save thousands of dollars in legal fees? The A.G. should investigate this immediately.

Quit whining.

If Bill Clinton, Chris Dodd and Barney Franks didn't create the situation leading to so many housing foreclosures, these marshals wouldn't need to deliver the documents.

Right?

The Stares "concern" last year apparently didn't turn into action.
So, what's new. It's "De Ja Vous" all over again. There's only one solution to this. All of you should move out; like I did.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
