"Sears said the institute keeps its estimates on the conservative side." Funniest line in the history of journalism!

"There were gay-specific cruises on NCL's Pride of Hawaii, for instance, BEFORE IT PULLED OUT..." I take it back. This is the funniest!

This really should be a no-brainer. And the figures in the story do not use the "multiplier effect" which economists estimate is 3 to 5 times the original funds spent impact in total on the economy. The Dem Party passed a resolution for the state to target the GLBT Tourism market - which the state ignores. And it's not just economics - it's equality, and families.

This article is not about money, it about a type of marriage the majority of Hawaii voters rejected.

Why would 1% of our countries population decides how 99% should live their lives. Forcing their lifestyle over family values. The fact that the news paper print two stories in one day on an issue that most people care less about shows that they have an agenda. Most families will not make Hawaii a TOURIST destination if the liberal democrats makes Hawaii a #1 tourist destination for gays and lesbians. The people have voted NO! If you want more proof then put it on the ballet again.

You got 3 articles on same sex marriage in the bussiness section alone. The agenda is clear here on star bulletin. The economy will not improve with same sex marriage, it will have a NEGATIVE effect on the culture, moral values and the economy.

The PEOPLE of Hawaii already voted to keep marriage between one man and one woman. This is law in this state. End of subject.

The Christians' make-believe god hates gay marriage. My make-believe god loves increased tourism, reduced unemployment, increased tax revenue, and a stronger economy. My god wins.

Hey clone bensen... You don't know the difference between 'there' and 'their' and 'they're,' do you? How about 'to' and 'too?' Grammar, my good man, grammar...learn it.

If you want more proof then put it on the ballet again. The only people telling others how to live their lives are the anti-gay bullies. Gays are asking for equality and nothing more. It's disgusting that anti-gay bullies are trying to force a loveless empty heterosexual lifestyle on gays. It's disgusting that "family values" is a term coined to disenfranchise the families of those who don't fit into the dysfunctional realm of opposite-sex marriage (48% divorce rate). The newspaper's agenda is to print news whether you or anybody else cares or not. The families who plan to go to Hawaii on vacation will still go. They won't know whether Hawaii is or isn't the #1 vacation spot for gays. Unless they read gay magazines, newspapers, and publications or visit gay websites and blogs or watch tv stations that target gays, they will never even see the ads. Even if they do run across an ad, they won't give it a second thought.

Hey lets profit on this quick! After all what better way to make money than by exploiting their newly found legal lack of prejudice. We could even offer a package deal by throwing in a discounted divorce. After all profit on misery is money in the bank too.

Most christian right groups are as vicious and wicked as atheists. They are far too intrusive and immoral for my taste.

If homosexual marriage brings revenue to the state they maybe we should look at legalizing gaming. If all the millions of dollars that islanders lose in Las Vegas can be be captured instate maybe we make UH tuition free, substantially upgrade welfare benefits to the lazy and homeless, and this one is a long shot, just maybe pave our roads and highways.

Leaving aside the fact that Hawaii's voters overwhelming rejected same sex marriage, there is good reason for the state's tourism folks to avoid positioning Hawaii as the country's gay wedding capitol. They know full well it would chase away more business than it would attract. Hawaii is known far and wide as a family-oriented destination. The Star-Bulletin clearly is pursuing an agenda here with this one-sided, incomplete article.

Hawaii is doomed to languishing for years. The state will grab at anything that brings in dollars. The polticoes that run this dreadful state are all horribly worried but won't tell us what they know: There is no future for hawaii in the post-oil era. Hawaiians will need to get off the free federal cash gravy train also..America is broke.

O good, just what we are waiting for, men kissing men at the Pali Lookout, women kissing women on the Catamaran ride, men making out with men at Queens Surf ( have for years)...women making out with women at the movies, men kissing men at the Zoo for the kids to watch , etc, etc,......... we are willing to prostitute Hawaii and Hawaii's next generation of children for the almighty 'homosexual dollar"? Better be careful, since they don't have children, you will have to import people to keep the economy going, or have to move in more homosexuals. Both of which will cause people who follow a more moral life to leave Hawaii, as what happens when homosexuals decide to take over a building ( we all know of certain apt complexes), restaurants ( we all know which ones they are),........they will have their "Paradise" all to themselves which is exacty what the homosexual movement wants.( They took over the 'rainbow' to the point where The Bows had to be changed to Warriors for fear of looking homo.) If this comes about it will be a Sad day in Hawaii Nei. Guess Mufi can use the money for his "Great Train Ride" of the century.

correction.......the editor took the abbreviated word for homosexuality out, so where the **** appear, put "homosexuality" guess the short word is "offensive" !!!!! Like homosexuality is not offensive to the majority !! Ha! What a joke.!!!!

I do not fear men kissing..it is better than the wretched things we have to see everyday in this hell hole. Hawaii will grab anything to keep the economy going. It has no pride, no leadership, and no future.
