There isn't ANYTING as important in this nation right now as putting 15.4 million unemployed americans to work and sending help to our men and women in the military in Aftgan.

That's it. ANYTHING else that this idiot congress is dealing with is nothing more than mental masterbation....

and it proves, the democrats are out of touch with the nation. And so is Obama.

Even Bob Herbert had a column yesterday called "Does Obama Get It?" talking about obama's blase attitude, how he is out of touch with how many americans are in dire straights, and obama doesn't have any ideas on the horizon, nothing new...not a clue what to do...

And that's why the polls are so ugly for the democrts right now, and the approval ratings are tanking, and Obama is barely struggling to hold a 50% approval with a solid 43% disapproval.

NOT A SINGLE POLL IN AMERICA says HC reform is the top priority. Neither is same sex marriage a priority on anyone's list also...

Just more proof that the democrats are completely out of touch with mainstream americans.

and THAT'S why the GOP is gaining ground so fast...gathering so many terrific candidates...asians, hispanics, cubans, african americans...that's not a party on the down fall, THAT'S a party on the upswing with millions of people joining...

Keep screwing around with stupid stuff, by all means...go ahead....

This isn't Congress' doing, it's the DC City Council that is pursuing this. I do like how you haters always make this about Obama though, it shows your true colors.

Yep, it is all about OBAMA, and if DC wants a same sex marriage, fine.. go for it.

My POINT is still the same...fine, call me a hater?

WSJ pointed out, 15.4 million americans are unemployed..that's greater than the population in 46 OF THE 50 STATES....

Yep, roll that around in your mind right now...

571,000 FELL OFF THE UNEMPLOYMENT ROLLS and aren't even INCLUDED in the 9.8% unemployment rate...if you include THEM, we're WELL over 10%, and then if you include the people that have had to take PART TIME, and TEMP JOBS.. it's even WORSE for us...

This is a national crisis...it's just that Obama and the democrats refuse to address it.

Even liberal columnists are asking of Obama: WTF?

Even liberals along with the entire nation are wondering...does Obama have what it takes?

Is he really fit to lead?

This is a national crisis...no one gives a sh*t about the olympics...no one cares about HC reform...WE NEED JOBS.. and the Obama administration, as the LIBERAL columnist Herbert points out...seems clueless, and completely bereft of what to do...not a single idea...nothing on the horizon...

And he points out, and unemployed electorate is an unhappy electorate.

And when the democrats get hammered again in 2010, they'll deserve every beating at the ballot they get...

I'm not sure I understand the rationale behind some comments saying the President and Congress have too many other things to focus on.

I hope there's no confusion on this news story: this is a LOCAL District of Columbia bill, not a proposal for a national marriage rights law. It is drafted by locally elected DC representatives, is signed by a locally elected DC mayor, and covers the residents within the District of Columbia.

Leaving aside my opinion that this is worthwhile issue and should eventually be addressed on a national, not local, basis by repealing DOMA, as a previous posted said, this is a local DC issue handled by the locally elected District of Columbia City Council and mayor. It takes no time from the US Congress or President.

Please reread that last sentence as many times as you need to understand it: It takes no time from the Congress or President.

The only involvement by Congress would be if they want to stop and reverse a new law in DC. If they're ok with it, they simply let it go into effect after the normal several week waiting period.

So, if your argument is that Congress and the President are to busy to be occupied by this now, I hope you understand they won't be bothered if the scenario above is followed. However, if your argument is that full marriage equality for gays should never happen, and you support Congress reviewing and repealing this bill, I'm not sure there will ever be enough "free time" at the national level to satisfy you.

This is a thread about marriage in DC, not about Obama, take your Obama hating to a more appropriate thread.

You "straightard, politictard, religitard" forum trolls like "No One Important" just can't stay on topic no matter what, huh? You just get so mentally worked up over reading the thread title you can't even bother to read the article and then you make yourselves look even stupider when you post.

Go write a book or blog about something you care so deeply about in an appropriate "straight, political, religious" forum on Topix where someone actually gives a crap what you think.

And stop wacking off here in front of us to all the GAY/LESBIAN FORUM fantasies you keep having by cruising around here, while pretending to be straight, politically correct and religious, OK?

Thanks for listening and F*** OFF.

When many people are losing jobs, issues like marriage become even MORE important, due to health insurance being tied to employment in a large majority of cases. If you cannot see that, then it is you who is the goofball.

Which is irrelevant in this context. This bill in the DC city counsel in no way hinders any other work on any other issue, especially none of the issues you mention.

Yet you feign outrage over some imaginary slight. You're part of the problem, not the solution.

it all boils down to one fact. its the same reason black people had to fight for thier rights. the same reason women had to fight for thier rights. and the same reason lgtb have to fight for thier rights. fear. its easy to say that there are always more important issues at hand. because we just cant seem to get it together. there will always be issues because this great country of ours is selfish judgemental suspicious greedy and just plain mean really. we are capable of so much, but no. we'd rather be right.

BTW--what is YOUR brilliant plan to end unemployment?

They re going to the same places that infertile straight couples are.

Why? Legal marriage has nothing to do with whether or not you reproduce.
