Mysterious illness kills thousands in Central America

CHICHIGALPA, Nicaragua – Jesus Ignacio Flores started working when he was 16, laboring long hours on construction sites and in the fields of his country's biggest sugar plantation.
Three years ago his kidneys started to fail and flooded his body with toxins. He became too weak to work, wracked by cramps, headaches and vomiting.

One of the people who wrote the words to Whitneys first big hit, I believe, "The Greatest Love Of All" was a woman named Linda Creed, who was terminal with breast cancer, and who incidentaly passed away while the song was popular in 1986,here is the link...

Interesting, I think we rarely pay attention to those who pen the music we love. Thanks

Disagree,he wants to decriminalize some drugs besides MJ,due to his claim that the war on drugs isn't working which we all know anyway, and he says that Iran is not building any nukes, and if they were, they would not use them on anyone even Isreal that is either total fantasy, or lunacy.
I see you understand his stance on decriminalizing drugs. He is not advocating use of them, just leaving it up to individuals to decide to use or not while putting the money spent on the war on drugs to better use elsewhere. His stance on foreign policy is more along the lines of 'we can't stop other countries from doing what they want, but we can stop spending our money bailing them all out while US citizens need our help'.

It's still february, you know Black history month, where the hell did you think winter was over, DUH
LOLOL..yep! You're definitely PM! Jealous much?
;)
Let me explain...I'll type slowly so you can understand. I live in Central Florida. We only have a handful of freezes here, most of the time they're only in January. We're in mid-February. Not very common to get freezes this time of year and so by saying I though winter was over, I was actually saying I thought we were done with the freezing weather. I'm quite aware of the fact that winter does not end until mid-March, thank you very much.

When my daughter was born I lived in Queens NY, I knew, and worked with someone who was mob connected, his cousin was a capo,Captain,
he asked me if I wanted to get involved in the business, for a lot more money then I was making at that time, this was in the 70s although I am not Italian, I had that option, thinking about it and knowing what it all entailed I said no, because of my baby daughter, and I wanted to be around to see her grow up, I believe to this day I made the proper choice, and so happy I did. PS the guy who was in the mob, got whacked 2 years later.
LOLOL...nice story! Who starred in this movie? I forgot....

Manure:
In the 16th and 17th centuries, almost everything transported long distances went by ship, and since it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, large shipments of manure by sea were common.
It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet. However, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by-product is methane gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles, you can see what could (and did) happen.
Methane began to build up below decks, and the first time someone went below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!
Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening.
After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction 'Stow High In Transit' on them, which meant sailors stowed it high enough off the lower decks so that any water coming into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.
Thus evolved the term 'S.H.I.T'(Stow High In Transit), which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.
You probably did not know the true history of this word.
Neither did I.
I had always thought it was a golf term.
That was interesting....One learns something new every day.....

"Obama Approval Ratings Rise Tracks Increasing Consumer Confidence"

WASHINGTON -- On Thursday, the Gallup Daily tracking poll marked a symbolic milestone. For the first time in more than a month and only the third time since last July, Gallup reported an approval rating for President Barack Obama (49 percent) that was slightly higher than his disapproval rating (46 percent).

On Friday, the Rasmussen Reports automated tracking survey marked a similar landmark. It showed Obama's approval rating at 50 percent or greater nationwide for the fifth consecutive day, a popularity not matched on the Rasmussen poll since January 2011.

The two daily tracking surveys are not alone. National telephone polls released in the past week by Fox News, ABC News and the Washington Post, Ipsos/Reuters, and the Democratic Party-affiliated Public Policy Polling (also sponsored by the website DailyKos and the Service Employees International Union) have all found increases in Obama's approval rating since October. Most of the increases range between 4 and 6 percentage points; the Ipsos/Reuters survey found a smaller rise.

Well, he continues to demonstrate that he's serious about income inequality, and I believe that resonates well with the majority of voters who prefer his budget plan over anything the opposition has floated. Here's the breakdown which is pretty much a repeat of what a do nothing Congress wouldn't go for last time, won't do anything about this year, but may be able to sign on for post election:

Obama sends FY2013 budget proposals to Congress

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama unveiled a $3.8 trillion spending plan on Monday for 2013 that seeks to achieve $4 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade but does little to restrain growth in the government's huge health benefit programs, a major cause of future deficits.

Obama's new budget was immediately attacked by Republicans as a retread of previously rejected ideas. The budget battle is likely to be a major component of the fall election campaign.

The president would achieve $1.5 trillion of the deficit reductions in tax increases on the wealthy and by removing certain corporate tax breaks. Obama rejected GOP charges of class warfare. In his budget message, he said, "This is not about class warfare. This is about the nation's welfare."
