Hi,
We are moving in the fall there, but not sure where yet. Where would be the best place for roofing and less rain? We are looking into Northern Little Rock and north of it.Need a growing city or town and where jobs are plentiful. We are from Texas, but moved to Seattle..where the weather is awful now in the winter and ready to come back south. It is very beautiful here and thats why I think we would love Arkansas with all the greenery....dread the ole humity again.lol.
Please give me some suggestions...thanks alot :)
Good luck on plentiful jobs anywhere in Arkansas...remember we had Huckabee who sold us out for the mexican consulate...so they can funnel in 'undocumented' workers to take jobs from US citizens.

Theres no place left safe but Arkansas is by far the best. There are still quiet communities here at least. Unfortunately , thanks to Bush and his UN treaties, that wont last long because people are just not waking up and yelling at congress or even their local officials. Do you think youre vote will even be safe. Watch this video of what happened in New Hampshire. Ill bet you wont see this on the evening news....lol.
The look on this guys face of terror and guilt is priceless.

Thank you so much False Prophet and Blytheville Teacher.... you both were very helpful..
So neither of you have anything to suggest in the southern missouri area... like steele, mo for instance?
Mammoth Spring Ar. has very good schools but few jobs here.I would suggest if u can rent in a town u may want to live 6 month to a year.Better yet rent to own,but dont commit to an area untill u know u want to live there.Make a list of critria for the place u move to.Hot springs I hear is nice. And avoid living near water. And try and find a house with a fraidy hole.

Im moving from california to monticello just wanted so info and ask what kind of culture shock this will be
Monticello Ar.?Or Va. if its in Ar. could be major .Depending on where in Ar. like 4 instance if u go to "Eureka Springs u will find the same open mindness of Ca.reason being:in the 70,s alot of "Hippy types moved there from Ca.I suggest wherever u go you should rent month -month to see if u like it there.I moved from S.D. Ca.to Mammoth Spring Ar. and there has been some culture shock.I had even lived in the So. 4 eight years in Va. was and is the Meaning of the phrase So.hospitality..Parts of Ar. are not ,it has to do with alot of things 4 one lack of education but that is changing tnx. to Bill Clinton .But some of the "Boomers here are illeteret then u have the educated "ruling class.Get my drift?Plus some areas of Ar. where there economy has been historically depressed. So if u start a buss. make sure there is a need/want .Like I said look around first.I know some places I have met people from and heard are nice are Hot springs ,Mt.View,Jonesboro is a Growing city with a large "Hispanic comunity.Just be careful where u land depending on Your needs. And remember it is a culture shock they are behind about two years on styles and gagets longer in some things. They have had cell phones in a big way last couple years. They tend to talk loud here and are not aware of phone etiquet.Watching the Beverley Hillbillys may help with confushions. But when u get here dont tell them u did that. Some Arkys are just that simple and kind but they are a dying breed.Because of the internet.Futher question I will try and answer them just ask......Also there are places in Ar. that dont like Change and dont want to hear it especially from Ca.Some have preconcieved ideas about Californiians,so u will proablly surprise them. Some people here think we are all like Paris Hilton 7 her friend Nicole Ritchey. They can also be clannish.Where I live most people have two jobs a demanding 9-5 and then the cow farm at home .So they dont have lesisure time and are tired and irritable and dont know it.And dont have time for any one .And yes parts of Ar. there is a drug problem and tend to think Calif. do drugs and may sell.So dont come here to do that they will be watching and u will go away.....The meth deal has been devasting for there kids here as well. But I have noticed it is being 'cleaned up here.

Hello folks,
My wife and I are seriously thinking about moving to AR probably in the Mena area. My brother lived in Mena and now lives in Hatfield. Here in PA I own and operate my own business detailing and restoring US and Metric Cruiser Motorcycles. I hope to continue after I get settled down. My wife may be able to relocate to a facility nearby in OK. There is of course the chance that nothing will be available and that we will both have to obtain jobs. What is the job situation like in the Mena/Hatfield area? Also can anyone comment on the Mena Middle and High Schools.
I do not post often so I hope I didn't break any rules. I hear the folks in AR are very friendly. We want to find our place and start a new chapter. Please any comments on the school, cost of living, scenery etc. will be accepted. I am coming out to visit and look around hopefully in February and see for myself. Any realtor referals are welcome.

Moses, This forum is someone asking about moving to Arkansas. I lived in Hindsville for 5 years. There is nothing wrong with it. It is approx. 25 miles to Springdale and 25 to Fayetteville. About 10 miles to Huntsville. Its easy to get to Eureka Springs from there. Your away from the city, yet close enough to get there when you want in under 45 min. Not far from the White River and Lake Hindsville. The people are nice. As for Corona it is a nice town. They are redoing the roads and freeways to accomadate more people. I'm not sure which prison you are talking about (Chino or Norco) which both have been there for as long as I can remember. I am not stuck in Corona I choose to live here. I really don't fear the neighborhood turning into "hoods". And if there is trash on the roadsides maybe that will create jobs for the "illegals". Corona is a great place to live, but then again so is Hindsville. Its just a matter of choice.

and the illegals if you stay in Calif. long e-nugh you will see the illegals come with a goal in mind .First the start by picking up trash then they work for a landscaper, they figure out how to cost the boss money, then they own the landscaping Co.then they dont hire you when you need a job unless you are Mexican.I like it here in legal land. And whenever I see an illegal I make a phone call.An elderly couple I knew in San Diego had aranch of about 50 head. They were getting ready to retire, and were murdered by there help for abottle of peppermint scnepps and a hand full of dollars. My cousin in Wash. state was also murdered by an green card that had killed 2 other workers besides my couisin. And of course our govt. couldnt have him extradicted. So you know how I feel.I grew up with Mexican/Americans.Had no problem they were my friends. Now it is Mexicans /Mexicans they want what you have and pay no taxes for your school, send most of there earnings to enrich Mexico. So listen up they are NOT just trash pickers, dont delude yourself. And most dont like "Gringo......Good luck

Sounds like you have a good plan, down around Little Rock is growing also North east Ar. Jonesboro. You may want to rent and check out the local, see if the good ole boys will let you get work in the area.People from Texas seem to do well as a whole in Ar.similar accents help, and some of the sameculture. We do need roofers here .The humidity and cold are hard on them .Starting to go to metal roofs.Good luck

Pocahontas is a wonderful town. I've lived here my whole life, and I can say that it's one of the best examples of a small-town atmosphere around.

Unfortunately, we're almost completely under water right now!
