I believe its a combination of all of these. However, I am so thankful that the majority of the country thought different than these racist, redneck, alabama hillbillies and put a progressive in power.

Okay, I am from Alabama, and I think that Obama is a great man. I didn't vote for him simply because he is a DEMOCRAT. Not because I am a "racist, redneck, alabama hillbilly". In fact, slavery ended nearly hundred and fifty years ago. Most of Alabama is completely 100 percent AGAINST slavery and racism. Sure, there are probably a few insane racists out there, but I do not know a single racist person, nor do I intend to become friends with one.

How about: "I didn't vote for Barak Obama because quite frankly, I don't think he knows what he's doing. Not wanting the gov't to control every aspect of our lives doesn't make me a hillbilly, or a racist. It makes me an American. America was founded by men who rejected oppression.(And just because the gov't was late with your check doesn't make you oppressed. Part of America's problem is that the leadership of this country is trying to imitate forms of gov't that are staunchly anti-American." And by the way, thank you for reenforcing my belief that most liberals really are ignorant, elitist, socialist. No encumbants in 2010!!!

The answer to the above opinion poll is "None of the Above". Obama did not carry Alabama because this state is mostly Christian, not Islamic. This state is mostly conservative, not liberal. This state is mostly pro-live, not pro-abortion. This state is mostly supportive of the 2nd Amendment, not clamoring to rewrite it. Most people in Alabama want jobs, not government subsidized hand-outs.

The election is over and we have a new president. Although I sincerely hope that the next 3 1/2 years are better, I have little hope after seeing what has happened during the first 6 months.

well i am from alabama and i think alabama has black people who are mayors, county commisioners , city council people, so forth in the state, i guess each person voted how they wanted i am one redneck who did, has any person , running for president ever carried all the states, and won by ever state voting him in , i can not remember any election turning out that way ,

well, Yolanda...perhaps Obama will do as well a job as Larry Langford and Co have done for Jefferson County in Alabama. Maybe history is doomed to repeat itself after all.
