I just learned about this insane activity tonight on the "the big idea with Donny Deutsch" show on cnbc channel.

Am wondering if there are good people that are trying to get this activity stopped and what is their progress? Any legal action being taken?

When one watched what the show had, looked like people that were doing this activity are crazy. so insane to see that people wanted their kids to watch this, get up close they said to their children.

Why bother people who arent hurting anyone and minding their own business?? We have over five thousand HUMAN babies slaughtered everyday in America and your worried about someones activities involving their dogs and a wild hog.
You have been duped by the media and the hype and sensationalism of these hog baying competitions. It is a southern tradition that has been around long before you, me, or even our gtreat grandparents were around. leave them alon and do something worthwile.....like help troubled kids and the slaighter of babies..Not worry about some hog being barked at and caught by someone dogs.

You know torturing animals aint right ,but niether is murdering innocent babies and letting drug dealers run rampid in our streets is either, but you know you do here more this on this humane thing than you do on getting drugs and baby killers off the street,so I reckon we kinda need to get our priorities straight.Well thats all i got to say, going to western sizzilin to eat a big steak from a tortured cow.

Baying hogs and hog/dog fighting are two different things, completely. Kinda like hunting and NIGHT-HUNTING, one lacks honor.

I hope I never come across anyone who participates in this activity. It will be their last.

Yall are crazy every one loves to do that and it is a sport it is nothing the same as night hunting althoug you can hog hunt at night. Hog hunting is and baying and cathing is the best. It is just for fun and anyway all you people probobly eat pork or some kind of meat how in the hell you think them animals get killed? I have 10 hog dogs and 2 catch dogs. There is nothing wrong with that its just like most of you people shop. It is a hobby.

I have 10 bay dogs and 2 catch dogs and if you don't like watching WILD hogs being barked at and caught by dogs than don't watch it Its just like when you eat a steak you are eating a cow that has been fattened up at a feed lot just before butchering and being put into a grocery store for you to put on a pit and eat so don't even talk about torture and anyway you can hog hunt at night.

I think that torturing an animal is torturing an animal, whether it is a wild pig, or another animal. Although, it seems that in many studies, animals are just as tortured, if not more severely tortured, when being slaughtered.

I think both of these 'traditions' are inhumaine, and if 'dog fighting' is illegal, than so should these 'hog dog fights'.

I hunt for food. I see no point in fighting dogs or fighting hogs/dogs. Its probably the sport of the uneducated spotsman. Kill ahog and eat it, but why anything else?

For the idiot expert that doesn't read very well, I never said hog hunting was my hobby. If you will read my post you will see I've never been to a hog dog fight. I do appreciate the fellows that catch and kill them. I have shot and killed many hogs at 200 to 300 yards. When you kill one they leave for weeks and sometimes months. You don't know they are back until they have ruined another field or pasture. Sir I enjoy hunting and strive to enhance the habitat on my place. The deer have ruined our garden this year and I have a permit to kill 5 at this time. When you work as hard as I do it's hard to get up at 2 to 3 a.m. and shoot the damn deer. The ideal way to control the hogs is to trap them. I've caught as many as 7 at once in a trap. My neighbor says "if you catch or kill 7 that only means one thing--you've goy 47" and I believe him. As I said hogs are not native to this continent and I classify them an invasive species. If someone knows a recipe to poison them please post it. I'd like to try it.
Sir you say I'm an idiot, it's clear you know little about the problem of wild hogs.

You sir are an idiot. I hunt deer, turkey, and quail. Now understand, I ain't a tree hugger by far! I don't fight dogs because its stupid, unethical, and against the law. I don't hunt hogs with dogs for the same reasons. I also understand how easily a wild hog can f*ck up a field or pasture, but several manufactures make guns for such things. I have dropped hogs myself, but I will not participate in rediculous brutality for my entertainment. To each his/her own, but maybe you need to catch up with the rest of the world and find another hobby. Perhaps one worthy of honor.

Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed. I thought a man so "pro-hog catching" would be a natural part of the sport. I apologize for speculating on your hobbies, but I stand by my posts. It is an unethical sport, period. I have dealt with wild hogs myself and they are a nuisance, no doubt. A large trap works well. SO, you do not hunt hogs with dogs, but your all for it?

While I don't agree with hog-dog rodeo, I can't see where it is any less ethical than a regular rodeo, where horses & steers are kicked in the gut with spurs and prodded with electricity until they are just crazy, and calves are thrown to the ground and tied up. It hardly seems terribly polite :)

No, I don't own hog dogs but I've allowed others to hunt on my property and will continue to do so. I wish you could wittness this event. The catch dogs are suited up in what appears to be a kevlar chest protector, similiar to the vest the cops wear. They were all outfitted with radio collars to locate them if they became lost. A couple of the dogs wore shock collars in case of an encounter with domestic livestock. These hunters made every effort to protect the dogs. I saw no significant scars on the dogs. The sport of hunting hogs with dogs is not illegal as you say. Laws forbidding the hog dog rodeos have been passed in several states. Personally I did not support it. There's more to life than f***in', fightin', football, racin', and rodeo's. I've seen all of the above and none more enjoyable and safer for the participants than hog hunting.

That sounds "squared away", but I doubt most who participate take such precautions.

You freakin Southern people have had way too much sun exposure, I think your brains are fried. Go inside, cool down, pour yourself a tall glass of lemonade and find a nice safe hobby k?
