Well, well, well what do you know? We made headlines! Poor Mr. Rowell could not find anyone to confess to being gossips. Imagine that.

Yeah, I hear you. Why do I need to know who not paid their taxes and such. Newspaper has lots of private information and dirt on people.

Do I really need to know who checks bounced and etc.,?

Public record is just that. It's the facts as best known at the time. Getting on a public forum and spreading rumors of the "I heard, They said, I think" variety is libel . Not to mention just plain mean.

The one obvious difference is the source. Should we believe everything we read about our neighbor on Topix? Public Record is a reliable source. I don't read it myself, as I have no need to know that sort of thing about my neighbor.

Great article Mr. Rowell. Wow! Little Campbellsville, Kentucky out-does San Francisco, California on Topix. I think it's great that we can exercise our 1st amendment rights. I sincerely believe these rights will be stripped from Americans if we're not careful.

If every city from the east to the west got as involved on Topix as Campbellsville, would we have high gas prices, pre-emptive wars, wasteful spending in our government, and housing foreclosures among an endless lists of problems Americans encounter daily?

Topix is the media that everyone should use in a POSITIVE way. Politicians should be careful in abusing their offices. Topix will enable everyone to be "watchdogs" of their wrong doings and offer a media that exposes those mistakes.

If I'm someone who takes checks from people then I'd sure like to know that.

I can tell you that one reason a city like San Francisco has less postings than Campbellsville is the higher population rate means more animosity. People there are not involved with who is doing who, it's more of a "live and let live" attitude. People mind there own business and post only on news headlines.

my kid got on the gburg board and posted a lot of goofy stuff to try to make a point, and it has been deleted in minutes.

some of her topics were "lets talk about him" (john doe), "and his wife" (jane doe), and "and their children" (let's run them down too) and "do you know jordin" (jordin sparks the singer). she also posted a bunch of weird facts in separate threads like butterflies taste with their feet and that is gone too.

but yet people write to topix to get stuff deleted and they won't, or it takes them days to do it.

deleting nonsense from kids is apparently more of a priority to topix than letting gossip remain on here and trash people. that's sad.

I am sick of gossip on topix. The Topix CEO has the gall to say this: "I take out hate speech but not name calling." That's almost like asking for a thread on "do you know so and so" to turn ugly. But there terms of service say no one is supposed to post someone's name without there permission. This is contradictory!

from the cknj.com article on topix:

Tolles (Chris Tolles, chief executive officer at Topix) said that when a user reports a comment as being abusive, it is examined by one of four full-time employees the company uses to examine and evaluate whether the comments warrant being deleted.

"We pull thousands of remarks each day," Tolles said. "I take out hate speech but not name calling."

You must be in the newspaper biz since you wrote "libel" and not slander.....you know what you're talking about.

Business and such could use the information, but it's pretty unless to the average person. And why should i care who all got speeding tickets in town? I don't think stores are dependent on town paper to see who to take checks from, I would think stores have their own database of people that could be possible problems.

Heather Curry, manager of a local retail store, said that she asked Topix on Monday morning to remove a thread that asked readers to comment on who they believe is the worst boss in Campbellsville.

Curry was named in the topic.

"It was very hurtful and I was tempted to reply," she said. Instead, she asked Topix to remove the topic and it was removed that morning.

Curry said she has developed a thick skin because she was raised to believe that if something nice cannot be said about someone, then say nothing at all.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA im sory didnt anyone reed the last line in this paragraph!!! hahahahahaaa heree let me higlite it......

Who exactly is she bad mouthing? If you are referring to French girls - she wants nothing to do with that - if you are referring to her letting her son go to his fathers house - Michael's and referring to him as an abuser then this is obviously Mindy or LeAnne trying to start more drama in her life and his - GROW UP - He has done NOTHING
