Gomez deal looking good

Carlos Gomez has been a Twin for only one month, but the center fielder, who doesn't turn 23 until December, has demonstrated why the New York Mets were reluctant to part with him in the Johan Santana trade in ...

Stop trying to predict and comment on future suspensions of Jared Allen if he should get arrested for another alcohol related crime. Geez you are going to drive the guy to drinking again. Let it be already the guy has payed for his past.

Not to be a Bob Bummer, but there is still alot of baseball to be played to make a statement like that.

Why can't you write about Jared Allen in a positive light? He's new to Minnesota - new to the Vikings - new to the fans. I don't understand your logic at all. Furthermore - I bet not very many Vikings fans do either. Why don't you try writing something positive about Jared? He says he's changed - give him a break!

To sit there and talk about what might happen if Allen gets another DUI is just weak. This man is a recovering alcoholic and needs support not negative tirades from a washed up hack columnist.
It is almost like these old stale and smelly media personalities are just praying for Allen to fall on his face. Enough is enough. Let Allen try to help this loser franchise get to the playoffs and stop hoping for his demise Walters.
This team had to try something as the fan apathy was worsening by the second. It is always so negative with these local media types. Time to retire Charley and Sid and let some young and fresh journalistic talent come on in and breathe some positivity into the local media scene.

Totally off-topic post here for Viking fans who need a little boost during the long off-season, and Packer trolls who need to start getting used to the idea of a 6 win season in 2008...

We've all posted a million times about the various players the Vikes have picked up in recent weeks. When you consider who those players are replacing on the roster, it's all the more impressive. Can't wait for kickoff! Check out the list:

DE Keneche Udeze ---> Jared Allen

QB Kelly Holcomb ---> Gus Frerotte

QB Brooks Bollinger ---> John David Booty

WR Troy Williamson ---> Bernard Berrian

FB Tony Richardson (age 36)---> Thomas Tapeh

S Dwight Smith ---> Madieu Williams

S Mike Doss ---> Tyrell Johnson

RB Mewelde Moore ---> Maurice Hicks RB

Nice job, Vikings!

Why are you talking about a misstep for Jared Allen? The man says he has stopped drinking. His family is one of high accountability. He didn't stop for the NFL, he stopped because who he is became more important than what he was drinking. He was immature by his own admission, as were almost all of us at one point in our lives, but most of us move on to accountability and maturity. Part of that maturity might be not bringing up "what ifs" from people who are "in the know". I know that former speeding drivers no longer have to worry about speeding tickets if they obey the speed limit. Similarily, Jared Allen doesn't have to worry about suspensions if he obeys the rules. Give him a break and drop it!

You people are funny about this whole Jared Allen thing..

Don't any of you read?

It has already been widely reported (though not officially confirmed by the NFL) that Allen's disciplinary record with the league will be CLEARED if he stays out of trouble through September of this year.

In other words, in just 4 more months, if he were to get in trouble for something, there wouldn't be the threat of an automatice league suspension.

Four months.

Something tells me he'll be fine.

LVR,
Yes, all of these players you mention in your post are definite upgrades at each position.
Richardson was good but always seemed to be hurt.
So I like Tapeh and he knows this offense.
Williamson was a waste of time hack and catches footballs with his helmet, ENOUGH SAID.
Udeze is solid but where are the darn sacks??? We wish him the best on his recovery and look forward to his return in 2009. Holcombe and Bollinger smell and are better served refereeing woman's football games. So Booty and Frerotte along with the project guy from U of Miami have significantly upgraded the depth at QB. Jury still out though if either of them have to come in and start this could get ugly.
Dwight Smith decent, but a locker room cancer and pot smoking reject so Madieu a definite upgrade who is much better in pass defense.
Mike Doss??? Who's that???? Did he even play for this team??? Oh yeah he was hurt all the time and a complete joke. Good pick on Tyrell, Kiper knows talent when he sees it and if he can learn the system could be a great nickel and dime safety immediately. Mewelde Moore I wish we still had as Hicks is more of role player with solid kick return credentials but Mewelde was a great catch and run back who could get in the end zone here and there. Vikings have made moves and are trying to win now. You cannot fault this logic. Too bad thee local media types are ALWAYS negative. They are never ever ever behind this team which is a small part of probably why the Vikes will leave town soon. Pretty pathetic.
