Narbonne throws Banning a curve

Even though it's High School, since when can a pitcher be removed from the game and then come back into the game and pitch again?

as long as the player stays on the field he can go back and pitch.....the dodgers did it years ago

It could have been a three-way change with the pitcher, ss, and DH.

On the other hand, there could be a special rule in HS baseball that allows the change. Maybe related to number of innings pitched.

How does a pitcher/player with this talent not make first team. Its "so called" High School Coaches who have a personal issue that can ruin a childs talent to excel. Banning and San Pedro Coaches should be ashamed of themselves. They need to coach little league if they cant handle the big boys.

Character and respect for the game still count for something.

That's exactly what this boy has. Character and respect for the game even when Banning Pitchers are throwing at his head and San Pedro kids are taunting with curse words. He still did his job on the field. And FYI he never returned to the bench at the Banning game. He went to shortstop.

Sounds like a mother protecting her young. This child has little respect for others let alone the game. You should find out the real reason he had to tansfer in the first place. He acts worse than a little leaguer on the field. During these games I'm sure he did not say a word back to any other players. Trouble follows those who create trouble.

Funny how "the concerned parent" says that this pitcher has character and respect for the game. Players with character and respect, take the win, and walk off the field with their team. Instead, this pitcher and their team, trash talk about San Pedro in the dug out and have nerve to trash talk while walking out of San Pedro's gate. Why not trash talk in front of our team, if your going to do it. Well thats because they are cowards. Funny how this so called pitcher has character and respect while trash talking to our second baseman about a san pedro player on the team who sucks "d*&k". Let me tell you, that player he is talking about got a scholarship to a four year college for football in comparison to this pitcher who will be signing a Letter of intent to what? HARBOR COLLEGE. Maybe he should go back to little league and learn how to play the game.

This is not my child. Its a child I see that has great talent and is being held back. But thats ok. He's #1 in the marine league batting, rbi's and in top 5 in all areas. He will make it on his own alone without the politics. People who know the real child backs him and thats all that matters. The outside doesnt.

Talk about coward look at the top two pitchers who left san pedro because of your coach. You read about the pitcher every week in the paper. He knows his game.

Sure, so called great talent, bad attitude...Wont get you too far. You'd be surprised how many people that do know the "real child" and who, throughout his years playing for san pedro, he still lacks character and respect. Its something he must learn to go anywhere in life.

While Matt might be a great player what about sportsmanship and character? He's not at Narbonne by choice.He's their due to his bad temper.Fighting in school is a big no no and shows that you can be the bigger person and walk away... which he didn't.

Like I said, so called great talent, BAD ATTITUDE. Lets all find out the real reason why he transfered.

Halverson got out of Pedro because he couldn't stand the fire...

This child with the talent will end up at the end of the bench or getting his teammates hurt when and if he continues to play. He is leaving High School and will have to grow up in a hurry to survive at any college level. At the next level with the antics he displays his teammates will pay the price because he will no longer be going to the plate. Good luck to the next Coach who has to put up with it. The Narbonne Coach sold his soul and put winning before integrity. Only time will tell.

Well, well well. Where do I start. I got a call today saying that people were bashing my son. First of all I must say that it is a very tough job to raise 3 kids, at which I am trying to do my best. My son does have a bad attitude at times, anger issues, and is disrespectful at times but I wouldn't trade him for the world. There is not one person out here that knows what my son is going through or what he has been through. My son is one hell of a baseball player and no one can take that from him. I know all about trying to raise my son and I do teach him what is right and wrong. I'm sure that all of your kids are not perfect. So all of you people who are talking bad about a 17 year old boy who is dealing with a lot should be ashamed of yourself, I would never put down anybody's kid, even if they throw at mine and curse and call names. My son's stats speak for themselves and wherever my son plays or whatever my son chooses to do with his life he will always have my support and I will always have my son's back, thats just what parents do. And I want to tell Martha ? for the thanks that she gave to me for the great job that I did but I want to let her know that my job will never be done when it comes to raising my kids, I will always be there to guide them even if they choose to go a different way. So why don't you people stop hiding and being fake behind your screen names and really get to know the story on the kid before you bash them. Thats the adult thing to do. I love my son and always will no matter what!!!!!!

Why don't all the parents realize that all boys will fight and curse and have a bad attitude, welcome to the real world of teenage years. Hope all of your perfect angels don't disappoint you once in their young years. All of you should be ashamed of yourselfs for picking on this poor boy he has displayed as much talent as any of the other pitchers so what if he displays his emotions give him a break!!! The daily breeze reporter covering the Banning game should report the story correctly Matt Durbin went to short stop not the dug out. Shame on all of you grown ups where are your hearts.

No one is picking on him. They call it as they see it. Baseball, from an early age, should be taught to respect the game and its players/coaches. I, for one, am not saying my son is perfect but he was taught to listen to the criticism and learn from it and move on. He was not taught to talk back to a coach, to a player, to an elder. If you want respect you have to earn it. I think all anyone is saying is dont criticize the Banning or San Pedro coaches for not voting for this pitcher, 1st team all league is not given just for talent but for a well rounded individual which includes character, sportsmanship and attitude
