You should know better than any how often teachers lie to protect their jobs. They will circle the wagons in the same fashion you have done in this thread. You two say Fettig lied.
But you can't prove it.
One of you is a thread jumper, the other most assuredly is a thousand plus miles away.
But you two know more than those who live and breathe it every day?
Please.
WOW, you say I am getting psycho on you?
You are the biggest nut job on here. You jump in here after the fact with your antagonistic points of view on an issue you know little about, and then you accuse others of going psycho?
She lied to save her job, ONLY TO VOLUNTARILY LEAVE A YEAR AND A HALF LATER AFTER SHE WAS CLEARED OF ANY WRONG DOING?
Pretty impressive.
Maybe have your group of super sleuthes analyze your posts here. Let them tell you what a bunch of whack-jobs you are.
Because you don't have to know me, but you don't need to to tell me how wrong I am, but I don't have to know you, but DO know the facts, and yet I am still wrong?
I feel sorry for the educators in Texas and La-La land.

Must be related..."hit, punch, scream" THOSE ARE NOT the subject here, Einstein!! Squeezed chin...sounds pretty PETTY doesn't it? Yet one of our dedicated educators is drummed out of town because idiots like you and your "family" of misfits, didn't like the way the wittle bitty baby was treated! There are anger management courses to take. You and your trailer park pack should attend. You provide an excellent visual- sniffing the air the like a dog. Fettig hits her students, that's why she left. She had two reported incidents but those are just the formal complaints. Administrators may keep notes on the informal ones, I don't know. She knew she had to go. She created her own problems. Her problems will follow her wherever she goes. She would be best suited in the penal system. She would fit right in. Care to tell us what you, er, she is doing right now as we speak?

Their teachers are arguing on the Internet for years on end! Check yourself in somewhere, please! You are right. I did not start this thread. Of course, I don't start on a thread simply because the topic "was at the top of the pile while I was browsing." I also am not one who spends "much time on forums like this" and engage conversation "only" when I "notice the threads with recent activity." If you have noticed my posts, you will notice that, yes, I am an educator (thus, Didacts). Yes, I live in Beech Grove. I do have children that went to Beech Grove High School (thus Narpets). I do know the Dunn's personally, and not just on a casual basis. I also know Paula Fettig, both as an educator and as the parent of one of her students. I got drawn into this whole situation because of all of the above. Of course, I initially thought I was helping someone. What was really happening was my position of authority and working knowledge of the past was being used and twisted for the benefit of getting a coach removed from her position. The 15-year old girl falsely accused a male teacher of sexual advances earlier in the school year. The 15-year old student, herself a basketball player, was overheard by a basketball player conspiring with another basketball player to get Fettig fired as a coach. There were twice as many students who initially said they heard the smack. When put to the test, making a statement to the police, they backed out. An entire gym class of kids, and yet only four witnesses: one was the student assistant, who was also the one being conspired to; one of the "witnesses" happens to be a good friend of the 15-year old student involved; one heard a slap, but never saw it. Probably 20 other kids, playing a team sport, directed to a delay in their class and no one else saw anything. Now, if you go back and re-read my post, I have also said I do not agree that it was right for Fettig to touch this student. I also depend on our legal system to sort out the legalities of all of this, which is exactly what they did. I don't have to deal with any of this where I am at. Since I work with juniors and seniors in an academically advanced program, there isn't much time for this kind of an incident because the kids I work with are self-motivated about their academics and are more focused on 10 years from now that they are who their next basketball coach will be next season. So, you are right. I also jumped in on this thread. I did it though because I haved lived it. The issue is over, and still people get on here and talk about something that they have no clue about. But the difference between you and me though, is that this isn't simply some forum that made it to the top of my active list. I said it before, if you let it die, I will let it die. Then maybe you can be freed to try and antagonize someone else.

The girl DID NOT accuse a teacher of sexual advances. There was no conspiracy to get Fettig fired. That was made up by one student. That NEVER happened. Every student questioned by the police gave a statement. They didn't back out. Read the report. The Police Detective only questioned those kids because he felt that they were strong statements and didn't need any others. This had nothing to do with basketball. This was about a teacher who smacked a child. The teacher lied about the smack instead of admitting wrong doing, apologizing, and getting help for her anger issues. She has once again shown her anger to another student. Again, as a teacher, not as a coach. Even with all that happened, she was unable to control her anger with a student. If that doesn't tell you that she has anger management issues I don't know what would. The Judge never said she was innocent of smacking the child. She said that what she did to the child was within her legal rights because of Indiana's Corporal Punishment Laws. Paula Fettig did this to herself.

I am curious as to why someone from Austin, TX, Battle Creek, MI and AOL land would be so interested in such an issue, particularly with this great big world of issues out there. I mean, they have grown men in Eldorado, Texas, raping teen age girls in the name of marriage. Oh well. info from Battle Creek, you are absolutely right. What the appeals court said was that what Fettig "did to the child was within her legal rights because of Indiana's Corporal Punishment Laws." If you read the court's summary a little more, you will find that they also stated that "even if it was a slap...". Now, I won't attempt to read the mind of the judges who presided over this issue, but it looks to me like they weighed both sides of the story, unlike most of those who post on here. Let's be honest. If you people can sit back and say a 39-year old is a liar, and that a 17-year old student, National Honor Society, Academic Honors and top 5% of her class that had nothing to gain by lying about some conspiracy theory, then why couldn't a 15-year old who had absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain if Fettig was fired...? Whatever the truth really is isn't relevant now based on the court's decision. If all of you still have an issue with this, blame the courts, not Fettig. The Dunn's had her right where they wanted her, and based on the same laws that protect those of us who really do live in Indiana, justice prevailed. Not Fettig.

Did Fettig get in trouble again? What is it with all these crazy teachers? They are in the media every day for something. The incident with the people you mentioned in your post happened a while back, Haven't you beaten the horse long enough? Since you are an educator, you should know it is very unprofessional for you to discuss specifics about school business such as this. Sharing your personal knowledge on a public forum is tacky beyond belief.

Even Judge Kirsch, in his dissenting remarks, wrote, "We do not know whether the Beech Grove school system has a policy regarding corporal punishment, and we do not know whether Ms. Fettig followed it." Apparently they don't, and it is obvious that the State of Indiana has laws protecting those rights of the teachers.
