Clearly you have issues with educators, enough that you can lump us all into one great big category.
I teach well over 150 students a day. If I have one student fail my class, how is that my fault? But yet, I am the one who gets blamed by the parent who never shows up for back to school, who never shows of parent-teacher conference but ALWAYS shows up to blame me for their child's failure.
I met Paula Fettig as the teacher to one of my kids. She was well respected by her teaching peers, the students and the parents.
Prior to this entire incident, the student in question did not like Fettig as a coach. Prior to this entire incident, the parents of this student did not like Fettig as a coach.
Prior to this entire incident, the student was overheard by a varsity basketball player conspiring with another varsity basketball player (who was also the student assistant in Fettig's gym class) on how to get Fettig fired.
Coincidence? I don't think so. But you don't read about that in the paper or the court summaries, do you?
So what is your beef with teachers? What bad experience have you had with a few that you have to lump us all into one great big evil empire? You've stood up to "us", so what is it?
Maybe you should homeschool your children so they won't have to be exposed to the likes of us evil teachers.
As far as "raising a hand" as aggressive behavior, should I duck, cower in fear or strike back in defense the next time I ask for a volunteer in my class and any of my 150 students "raise their hand"?
Thanks bud. Keep me posted on how you really feel.
Sorry, but I don't have the issues, you do. Clearly, you are a whiny crybaby who disgraces the teaching profession. Apparently, you seem to lack common sense because you don't recognize the difference between aggressive behavior and self defense. Slapping a student because they called you a bad word is not self defense.

Your kind does get lumped into the category of unprofessionals. Your posts prove to me you lack the skills to relate with your students and their parents. Your bitterness suggests to me you need to be doing something else with your time. Your kind have been bringing down the quality of education for a long time now. Retire, please.

Me bitter? Not quite.

My kind? What "kind" is that?

Personally, I could care less about what people think of this issue. You have no clue as to what REALLY happened in that gym class that day other than what you have read, all of which was written/posted well after the fact.

Your judgement is based on some isolated incident in which you have blamed an educator for some ill that you have, so you have in turned "lumped" teaching professionals into one category.

Just remember, every cop, judge, milkman, mechanic, cashier, engineer, mayor, senator, president, meter maid, and garbage man, to name a few, started out learning from a professional educator.

Yes, I do have issues. I have issues with individuals who are quick to judge when they have no knowledge as to what OR WHO they are judging.

Last year, Beech Grove had a teacher who molested a grade schooler. Hang him. I have no patience or tolerance for that type of a person.

A couple of years ago, the football coach was fired because he had an improper relationship with a female student. He walked away with probation. They should have locked him up.

Understand this: I DO NOT AGREE THAT WHAT FETTIG DID WAS RIGHT!!! But, at the same time, there was nothing ILLEGAL about what she did!!! The student was over the incident enough to try out for the girl's basketball team this year.

But for whatever reason, there are people JUST LIKE YOU who feel that Fettig should have been CRUCIFIED over this incident.

But I don't see ANY of you screaming about the former football coach, now are you????

No.

That is what I thought.

Tomorrow morning when the short bus comes by your house, do us all a favor. Instead of getting on the bus, just stand in front of it as it drives by.

Fettig left because she was being accused of things she didn't do.

Fettig left because she hit a student! She embarrassed the district and caused unnecessary expense to the district. If she kept her hands to herself, there wouldn't have been lawyers involved. You can blame the media, students and parents all day long but the teacher was responsible for her actions.

Your response suggests to me you or your spouse is. Maybe you are Fettig. This thread has been going for a while. Smokin Sue and friends haven't let this one go. They are more than likely personally involved.

Please also be aware that calling people 'retarded' simply because they disagree with your views is incredibly immature. If you are an adult, you have some serious issues.

No, actually, Fettig stayed after the entire incident. She made the decision the summer after the incident to come back to Beech Grove in the fall.

Then she gets accused of grabbing some kid, allegedly too hard. Of course, it was a simple coincidence that the parents of this child happened to be friends of the parents of the 15-year old girl.

Fettig left because of the B.S. accusations. Of course, you can believe whatever you want, like she actually slapped this student.

My "response" that you responded to originally was never intended or meant for you. I believe that lumping all people in the teaching profession like the "googly" person did simply because an individual who admitted to being an educator apparently supported Fettig or disagreed with googly is also terribly immature and also terribly ignorant. I suppose that since you probably agree with this googly person, you can simply overlook this immaturity and ignorance.

That is fine.

Your response was that I was a bitter teacher simply based on what I had posted. I think if you go back through my previous posts, you will find that I know the family, and was at one time one of the people who supported them in their cause over this issue. I could be simply a neighbor.

I think that to assume I am a teacher, which I am most certainly not, or that my spouse, which is to say whether I am even married, is a teacher, are all very poor, very ignorant assumptions simply because we disagree with this whole issue.

Who knows? Maybe you are the student or the parent? I know they have been posting on here as well.

As far as Sue goes, I do not know her, nor do I care to rally with her over this. I think what kills me is that this whole issue is over, and yet, here people are, getting on here talking shit about this issue.

The bottom line: you don't know me at all. If I walked by you on the street, you still wouldn't know me. So don't pretent. Because when you assume on here, you aren't making an ass out of "u" and "me", because "me" isn't there. You're just making an ass out of "u".

My advice would be to stop "ass"-"u"- ming

my 9 year old daughter was having emotional severe separation anxiety. she was sure that i would die while she was in school. she was crying for me one day and the superintendent of the school district picked her up by her arms, shook her, and yelled in her face, "nobody tries to run from me!" she has not been back to school since. if she would have gone to school and told them that i had done this to her, childrens services would have been called. what should i do?

There are two concerns here.
First, with the superintendent, was this incident observed by others? Or was this a "one-on-one" incident? What physical evidence is there (was there?) that supports this incident?
My advice would be to contact an attorney and have the superintendent questioned by authorities.
Two, at 9 years old, your child seems to be old to be suffering from severe separation anxiety. Normally, separation anxiety is seen between 8 and 14 months of age.
Some of the symptoms include excessive distress when separated from the primary caregiver, worry about losing or harm coming to the primary caregiver, recurrent reluctance to go to school or other places because of fear of separation, reluctance to go to sleep without the significant adult nearby, nightmares, and - or repeated physical complaints.
For older children who have not outgrown separation anxiety within the normal developmental timetable or who have regressed to it under stress, effective treatments may include counseling for the parents and child, changes in parenting techniques, and anti-anxiety medications.
Treatment for severe cases may include individual psychotherapy, family education, and family therapy.
My advice would be to call your health care provider if your child has significant separation anxiety.

And, by the way, what does a separated shoulder have to do with anything? Paula slapped the child on the cheek...she didn't squeeze it or separate her shoulder.

WOW! I'm impressed!! Too bad you don't know how to raise a child to be a responsible adult you could be proud of! Life is not all peaches and cream and "get my own way if I cry loud enough"!
That kid has a rude awakening to look forward to.
Again, I'm DUNN with you!
