BS....even this newspaper reported on the groom who was shot and killed by Rivera Park just a couple of months ago. The police said at first it was a suicide but no gun was found. Thats a murder and its the 2nd unsolved murder in that area in the past 2 yrs. Pico Rivera is a crime-ridden city and this article is a joke. Why doesn't the Whittier Daily news question this "O murders in PR" and investigate rather than just running the story.

The onlly reason why crimes are down in Pico Rivera is because the majority of crimes are not reported to the press by the police or the city. Major shooting crimes, as the one in Old Pico around November or December of 2007, was not reported to the press. After the investigation the officers left and were called back because of continuance distrubance. The shooting near Rosemead and Beverly Road was reported but by whom? Many car accidents have occurred, some lesser and some to the extreme. Are these reported? NO!!!
lPico Rivera is not an Angle City and it is not a Devil City but crimes should be published for the alertness of the residents. Other cities publish their crimes why doesn't our City do the same.
Do Major Beilke and Captain Rathans control what given to the press and what isn't? How much power are they eserting in this area of crime? Again, I would truthfully desire the true crime statistics in Pico Rivera, not the statistics watered down.

Car accidents are not considered murders, there a tragedy, you ask if the Mayor or the Capt. control the newspaper? Geez do you READ! Our city is getting safer everyday, stop complaining and do some volunteer work, at a hosptial at a convalecent home, then start counting your blessings instead of always complaining.

Pico Rivera has 3-4 major gangs and dozens of tagger "gangs" and anybody who thinks crime is down, is mistaken. My father has lived in the same house 45 yrs and says the crime is as bad as in the mid-70's. Graffetti is everywhere, last year they had the gangrape of a 9th grader and violence is a given in PR. So somebody explain how a groom getting shot on a street corner across the street from Rivera Park 3-4 months ago is not considered a murder??? This city is on the downswing and its been occuring for years.

Pico is not a model of an angel city but before you talk you should get your facts straight. The gangrape made national news and people were prosecuted for it...but there's more to that story and the family has to deal with other issues, so I'll leave that alone. As for the groom's "murder", well, there was no conclusion it was homicide, look that word up. No disrespect to the victim's family, but the car was unsecured, several hours passed before he was found, it's not the best of areas. Ride around the area around the time he was unaccounted for. Tell me if you don't see a person or two (more than likely a drug abuser) roaming around looking for anything not nailed down to take and sell for a fix. Personally, I think he may have committed suicide, the windws were down and some doper came buy and took the gun. Regardless, I'm sorry for his family.

I'm glad you know more than the deputies who patrol there. I'm always in the city and there's tons I don't know. I think sometimes, just like the federal government, some things are not suitable for public knowledge.
