This story is little more than another propaganda piece for the Resource Center For Selective Nonviolence.

It also serves the "progressive" movement, as they can pretend they aren't a bunch of racist white lefties.

One also wonders why all the progressives haven't opened up their wallets or taxed themselves to subsidize this football league?

That's it! Put out a collection tray, get him a computer, an internet connection, and a uniform fund. Come progressives, come one, come all and GIVE back to the COMMUNity.

That may be true, but while he has actually changed lives and our community for the better, your comment has not.

Violence is a form of culture . It is used to claim territory , achive status via fear and aifflicted pain , to reinforce obideince , and enforceing loyalty . Minorities who do not have social non violent cultural methods and traditions of problem solveing need violence to negotiate conflicts . If we claim to be politically correct , we need to embrace that other cultures need violence to reinforce thier cultures values beliefs and traditions to maintain continuity of thier cultural context , we have no wright to judge them nor interfear with thier beliefs and activities . If they have a cultural history of violence , and it is in thier beliefs and psychohistorical profiles , let them hurt themselves if it makes them feel better.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Cruz, the darling of progressives, was in fact a felon/illegal entrant to the U.S. and twice faced deportation.

Again, if I remember correctly local progressives of political note even demanded that Sam Farr go to bat for Mr. Cruz to keep him from being deported some 15 or 20 years ago. Sam Farr wantonly complied.

While the rest of us have to survive under the laws of the land, pay huge taxes to progressive elitists as the power brokers of Surf City, and live lives of political correctness, only progressives are above the law and contrive special rules for special people.

What is really sad is the blatant disregard of honest information about Mr. Cruz by the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Kind of stinks-doesn't it?

Hey if all the problem youth could turn themselves around like Mr Cruz has, we wouldn't be trash talking the latino population. I've talked with him here on the polo field and he's a great guy. We all have a past even if most are boring as h-ll and he's done more to turn other kids around. Two thumbs up! BTW, I hate the liberal progressive faction. this is just my 2 cents on one individual....

All of you get off of my pal Chango. I have known this man for over 2 decades and if there is one person trying to make a difference it would be Mr. Cruz. While I fully understand the illegal alien problem especially in California. To take your anger out on Chango would be inappropriate, this man has gone a long way from being a very powerful member of the local Eastside gang to tring to steer kids away from the type of thing that he was involved in. More power to you Mr. Cruz

Well here we go! information was reported regarding Mr. Cruz in the past. He's been in prison for drug sales and use more than once and was a gang member! I guess if you turn over a new leaf as an illegal you reap rewards and get a pat on the back! I don't understand it but this is how our country works! Shameful!

sort of like your pal george w. illegally entering Iraq for the territory and oil and don't even try to say Saddam was a threat to the US. I am not for the illegal state of Isreal and don't support my tax money going to the attempt to perfect Hitler's attempt at genocide.

With that in mind we have to understand that Chango is tring to fix what might have been broken by his peer. Get on Chango

I wonder when Mr. Cruz will use his leadership skills to clean up the graffiti that his people have sprayed all over town.

A football league is good, especially with so many Santa Cruzans obese, but actually doing something to transform the destruction his people have left in their wake is better.

The only illegals in the Americas are the whites, especially the ones that came in the Mayflower and those after them. The brown man lived in the Americas for thousands of years, Europeans are the outsiders thinking they can claim anything. Just a bunch of ignorant bigots with no sense of morality and truth.

You don't need to know anytning about me, you see I use my real name because it has history. I have spent enough time with Mr. Cruz and other members of the Sureno's street gangs to know what is what. If you are questioning my crediablitiy start talking to cops like Rudi Escalante and other officers who have been around for a while. This will, I am sure prove my credibility I had been doing business with these people since begfore you were born
