I am sure hoping the school can get the support to turn it around. I was a grad in '64 and the school was a powerful force in the area. We had pride in our school and our teachers were some of the best! Here in Colorado the best school district (top performing) in the State is the Cherry Creek School District. If Colorado can do it right, so can Muir - but it's a "trickle down" which starts with K-6 and goes forward. I suspect Muir is only part of the challenge.

Good luck to Muir - it deserves to be better than it currently demonstrates!

All the schools in PUSD should NOT have more than 25 kids in each class from K-12th.

Figuring out how many marbles are in a jar is a good exercise, but one that should have taken place in middle school, not in a high-school physics class.

Then again, the photo is from September 10. Maybe by now they have moved on to a standard physics curriculum: kinematics, dynamics, optics, electricity & magnetism,...

HI! i went to this highschool a few years back and i feel like now that there are learning communities the kids may flourish however, i know kids who still go to this school and some are telling me that yes there are new learning communities but nothing is getting done! i think that its time for muir to improve the amount of people who go to that school, stop allowing permits to be sent to pasadena high school as they are over flowing in student population and now time for muir to get attendence up and make to the blue and gold pride i know its capable of up. Our class was one of the last enthusiastic classes that attended john muir if i do say so myself and even though im now in college i feel like the pride needs to be established as well as test scores! John Muir will always be my high school i'm blue and gold thru and thru but now that there is a principal who used to work at an elementary school (in which that school also got taken over by the state) how far can we really go! i think muir is in high demand of a new principal and teachers that demand work be done as well as learning encouraged!
