Foothill lost essentially everyone from their state title run last year. I guess they will be formidable again as Eureka is supposed to be tough. Hey coach, saying 'Eureka beat Eureka' is a disservice to a Foothill team that had you down 28-0 before giving up those 'called back' tds. Actually, Foothill beat Eureka...badly. Only thing that counts is the SCOREBOARD (or the official's score in this case).

Good try guys but here in the valley we play a different type of football. I just Hope that your ready for Shasta next week and P.V. the week after that. Remember at Shasta your not just fighting a pretty good team the heat will be a factor there too. Pleasant Valley don't let name fool you they play some pretty rough ball more like jungle ball so be ready.

Last I heard this was just a pre season game to get teams ready for league play. Let the kids play ball and quit strutting around like barnyard banty roosters thinking your home team is ready for the NFL.

concord wrote: Vainuku = OVERRATED Eureka football = overrated This is the team that's supposed to challange Del Norte for the big 5?? Don't believe the hype. They'll get kicked arround by any school their size and tallent level and beat up on a bunch of smaller schools later in the season. Ridiculous amounts of penalties are always attributable to coaching and poor discipline.

This question started coming up in the 1980s, then in the mid-1990s when St. Bernard folks thought they could beat Eureka in football. I recall St. Bernard people saying Eureka refused to play them. Eureka wouldn't consider scheduling a Class A team and neither would any other big school. Eureka has nothing to gain from playing a Class A or Class B school...and if they schedule really tough North Section big schools, they get knocked for losing to them.

Where were all these valley fans when Eureka teams were beating those teams in past years. Eureka does just fine, over a long haul, against North Section teams.
A different brand of football? Um...De La Salle plays a different brand of football.
One game and one loss might not be reason to kick dirt on any team...and, penalties in the season-opener are usually attributable to ... it being the season-opener.

de La Salle is Ferndale on steroids + 1000 screened students with money or talent. If Ferndale were in Texas they'd be well known if not legendary.
Eureka football is OK.They'll beat Del Norte at least once. Their schedule is tough but last nights game was closer than papers report.Eureka won all but one quarter and held Foothill to 5 1st. downs.Even if they go 0-3 the big 4 better be ready. If Greg does play lookout.

Despite Eureka unfair play last night they still couldn't pull of a win against Foothills 2nd and 3rd string team in the 4th quarter. If they think thats the only was to win a ball game they better have second thoughts when it comes to P.V. in 2 weeks they just might find out what having there behinds handed to them is really like. As for End Zone I never said anything about our boys being ready for the NFL, we're in a rebuilding year but still have a lot of talent so don't count us out. Good luck Shasta next week against Eureka, but you wont need it.

Typical results from the refs of Humboldt, as a coach in this league the flags were the only thing that made the difference. I have watched year in and year out the refs in Humboldt play games with the eureka and Arcata teams. Isn’t it funny that those dam flags come out only when a TD is scored? You guys should be ashamed, as it’s obvious that they play against 15 other players on the field.
Call it sour grapes, but Roland and is crew last night have blinders on as there is a penalty on both side of the ball EVERY SINGLE PLAY and that is a fact in High school, college and the NFL. The catch hash made in the Zone was at least 1 foot in. The run Soma made up the middle... I didn’t see any of the defenders turned around to be held!
I am sick and tired of the local refs sticking their noses right up the arses of every rural town in this county and dogging our boys every time some out of town team plays at our field. I would rather have refs from Foothill, as they are far more professional im sure!
AS FOR Humb Raised, I will give you this and only this... We have allot of talent on this team, Montana needs to learn to use the fresh legs on the sidelines. The guys were worn out as they were last year when guys who could play fine for a few plays warmed the bench and kept wondering what they are doing wrong. Let the starters start Coach, but Please let the backups do their part or you will run out of wind EVERY game!

Round Here,
If you willing to post a post like you did, why don't you use your realy name, if, in deed you are a "coach" in this league?
In reading your post, you do sound like sour grapes and a big bady who had his football taken away because he couldn't play well with others.

If you are a coach, berating the officials is both poor sportsmanship and unprofessional, most importantly it sets a bad example for your players. This is typical booo hooo it was someone else's fault we lost excuse making crap. I was always taught you take the officials out of the game, dominate so much they can't deny you and never use it as an excuse. Why is it so hard to believe that Eureka was far less disciplined than Foothill? Under their current coach Foothill's won championships, Eureka's won games against weak opponents and never played up to beat a team with similar tallent. Coach Montana probably could use the bench players more, but more likely could discipline ALL the players much better. Last year one of the biggest, strongest players beat up a female at school, got suspended for 3 days and as far as I know received no discipline at all from the team, it was just "welcome back" like it never happened. With behavior like that it's no wonder they can't perform without doing it wrong. Step up "coach".... who are you... show your players how to take responsibility for your actions and don't hide. Or are you just a whiny little baby?

De La Salle recruits from all over the Bay Area. Maybe make education in Eureka private and recruit the best out of Humboldt-Del Norte to an all sports school. Like Foothill in Palo Cedro students are not restricted to attend by where they live in or outside the district.

Well End Zone if you don't live in the Foothill high school district you have to get a inter district transfer to attend Foothill and a lot of student do that just for academic reasons only not just sports. We are also in the Shasta Unified High School District which includes Shasta and Enterprise who both have wonderful sports programs and are highly respected teams in the E.A.L. The boys and Coach Hamliton both work every hard to produce a program and a team that we here in Palo Cedro can be very proud of. Any given Friday this town takes a lot of pride in it's Cougars and just about everyone is there to support them any time or any where they are. So if it sounds like we toot our horns it's not that, it's just pure pride. something that as a parent I'm glad to have back It's been gone with me since the glory days of the A.H.S Tigers in the late 80's. This is not from a football mom either my kids a cheerleader.

All the schools in Redding (Foothill,Enterprise,Shasta and Redding Christian) have well run athletic departments and great fan support.Arcata was very impressed with the athletic trainers at Enterprise last Christmas Hoops Tourney.Red Bluff's fields and facilities are awesome. You guys are gaining kids and building schools instead we're the opposite except Fortuna. Last year Eureka had few 2-way players - The Loggers dressed 50 something players. Down state soccer is a CIF winter sport, is it the same in Redding?

Round Here, get real dude. I was also at the Eureka-Foothill game and was sitting down on the 20 when that supposed catch in the endzone occured and his feet were not in. If you are a coach then please watch the film. As for all the calls made that night, there were some bad ones against Foothill aswell as Eureka so quit crying.
