It would seem that cutting these programs was just a ruse to get the voters to pass the levy. Since the levy did not pass, and these cuts won't be made, I would guess I made the right decision not to support it.

I will never support it again until we get back to basic education.

What about the 5th grade band and strings being reinstated, talk about something that grows the brain and children. Truly a shame, and I'm a sports fan and coach as well as a music education supporter. The district has lost my supportive vote in the future. Priorities are screwed up, reinstating an extra-curricular that requires "good grades" to participate, but eliminating a truly cognitive and physical experience in 5th grade band/orchestra. Idiots.

I agree "no means no." Who is going to vote for the levy next time if given empty threats?" It sounds like the teachers made the biggest sacrifice. I'm kind of surprised since they just froze their salary for 18 months prior to this freeze. I noticed the adminstration was not mentioned, I'm just wondering did they freeze their salary. In 2008 special education services were eliminated how about bringing those back before we bring back items from this levy we were told would be eliminated??

You have to wonder if Doug Maggied was sincere in his "no" votes... or if he was just kicking off his re-election campaign a few months early...
