Ed Szymansky should be asked why he refused to attend the news conferences?

He set a poor example for the kids.

Ask him how he picked the team? Any favoritism with his buddies?

Youth sports is a joke.

Teg, I agree the coach should have been available for the post game news conference; the fact that he skipped both after his team lost is telling.

As for picking the team, the league couldn't have done too bad a job, they went further than any Valley team has ever gone. My thought is generally 7-8 kids on all-star teams are usually no brainers, they are obviously the best in the league and there's not a lot of dispute. Then there are the other 4-5, who are usually interchangeable with several other kids in the league. Sometimes it comes down to filling in a need (you need a couple of kids who can catch, for example, or you are looking for kids with a little extra speed who can pinch run). And, unfortunately, sometimes it does come down to politics. I 've been on both sides of that. I played for Oxford in 1970 and 1971. As a 12 year old, I was easily one of the 7-8. As an 11 year old, I was an okay player, but I'm not going to deny that my Dad being President of the league didn't have an affect on my selection. There were other players on a par with me who were just as deserving.(Just to tweak you all, I think little old Oxford beat one of the Shelton leagues one of those years, the old Shelton Central comes to mind, but it's a long time ago).

teg, your son obviously sucks at baseball and you're just fueled by anger, jealousy, and envy.
