Horse Country - great website, clearly shows the connections between Obama and a lot of unsavory characters. The New Mexican, again, shows that it will write anything - not with any journalistic integrity, but with incinuations and bias. Hippie - I hope you aren't surprised! I cancelled my subscription to the New Mexican a long time ago because of its bias and, to be honest, reporting things that are factually inaccurate. I will reconsider subscribing again if I see, as Hippie suggests, an article about Ayers - as well as ACORN, Rezko, Farakkan, Frank - his childhood mentor in HI who is a Communist. So how about it, New Mexican!

Midgets for McCain!

The New Mexican's slant has been apparent for a while but it's everywhere,
dependant upon which TV news or newspaper or online news source, you will be treated to their flavor of the world. We can only hope and ask for some responsibility in reporting. I think going back to the 50's or 60's to dig up dirt on any public figure is desperately pathetic...or pathetically desperate |

I dont care to hear about John McCain past. why dont you post about Obamas ties to muslum religion that scares me. so dont waste your time on the McCaines.McCaines have my vote. John fought for our country.

Grow up. This is a story about history, not a criticism of Senator McCain.
It certainly has nothing to do with Senator Obama either who is being slandered by the posters. |

Both sides of the partisan argument are dupes and pawns in the national ponzi scheme run by big money interests. Dems are incompetent and GOP is evil - take your pick, name your poison.

Hey Steve... Why don't you dig up some juicy tidbits on your buddy Borack Obama?
|
|
|
Seriously? This qualifies as news these days? Is The New Mexican really this hard-up for stories? Wow...very sad.

"John fought for our country."
He fought with the housekeepers at the Hanoi Hilton! Obviously this was good training for leading countries and choosing sexy women to run with! As they say about old men--- all their joints get stiff except the right ones. But evidently he took a dose of Viagra and it stuck in his throat causing him to be stiff necked every since. |

That's the best you can come up with? John McCain's father in law (WHO HE HAD NEVER MET YET AT THE TIME) was involved in something? Well. his father in law didn't raise him, and didn't influence him in any way, so how is this news?
I guess next we will hear a story about how McCain sneezed when he was 12 years old and didn't use a cleanex, and therefor he is not qualified to be president. |

Well at least this paper knows what candidate to promote! No more GOP in the oval office!!!!!!

McCain/Palin 08
The New Mexican rates about like any sleazy trash magazine with this story. What a joke! |

Thank you Steve Terrell. This is a good, well written, well detailed article, the kind we used to get from prominent journals all over the country before they sold out to people like Rupert Murdoch and his ilk.

In response to some of the contributors above who try to smear a decent column like this simply because it doesn't reflect well on their candidate... Take another look at your candidate and the people he does surround himself with: Phil Gramm, his economic guru, who structured the breakdown of banking regulations that have caused our terrifying current situation - while his wife, by the way, was making a fortune with Enron. How about Rick Davis, his Campaign Manager whose company earned $30,000 per month to lobby for Freddie Mac, and who, until last month, pocketed $15,000 per month himself from Freddie and, I think Fannie Mae. Go ahead, focus on attacking an article like this, then wonder why you and your families can't get decent health care in the US of A. You'll get a real health care plan under Obama. You won't under McPalin.
|
|
If you paid as much attention to what McCain has really been saying and doing as you do to defending his wife's family, maybe you'd see the real danger he poses to this country. I suspect that you and your family would benefit strongly from an Obama presidency. |

Look at the economy. John McCain always say he won't raise taxes, yet he voted for the war and continues to support it even if it takes a hundred years. How do you support a war? Taxes! This war started because the Bush family has invested in military manufacturing and oil. YOU are going to pay for this boondoggle that is George W. Bush and now you want another half-wit to replace him. I can only imagine that you (McCain supporters) believe America is about greed. He is not going to save the economy. He snot going to stop the killing in Iraq, and he's not going to help you. He does not care.

His "ties" to islam are tenuous at best. There is no credible evidence to say that Obama supports radical islamic terrorists or has ties to terrorism. And what of McCain's ties to Christianity? Should we hold McCain responsible for the Inquisition? Too far back? How about the KKK's history in the name of Christianity? I think this is exactly why the Founding Fathers put into the Constitution that there would be no religious test of our elected leaders. The religion, or even the lack of one, is no basis to determine who should be elected or not. If you don't want to vote for Obama, fine, but at least have a logical reason based on the issues, such as the economy, the war in Iraq, health care, taxes, etc. |
|
When you are going back this far perhaps you should look at Obama's paternal grand father.

I heard that John McCain (I know this changed my mind about voting for him) actually cut the tags off his mattress when he got back from the war! Shocking! Disgusting! And he thinks he's qualified to be president? Cutting mattress tags off? Hmph... Obama is obviously the chosen one and would never cut HIS mattress tags off.
