Hazing of any kind should be considered wrong. Our young people have enough stress to cope with during their teen-age years.

I knew it, everyone is getting off the hot seat one by one. The day began with the hearings and the Athletic Director is no longer on paid administrative leave. His position waiting for him. The A.D. is responsible for ALL players good and bad. Mike Yara doesn't know what his job is. The best job I've seen him do is selling popcorn. It's Roseanne, his secretary that does his job for him, all he does is sign all the papers. When I've had to go to his office on business he his the most rudest man I've met. In fact, last year he couldn't even find a roster of football players for me. He told me to come back when Roseanne was back from lunch. Now Yara is off the hook, tomorrow the coaches, and the next day the perpetrators. Guaranteed!

What the heck is going on? I just finished reading the Daily Optic, the newspaper of Las Vegas. Turns out the Athletic Director kept his job. He is no longer on leave. Leave it to Vegas, no where else on earth but here can you get away with anything. First it will be Yara, then the coaches and then the rapers will not be held responsible for their actions. The paper said the final decision is left to the board. We all know what that means, we will be seeing Michael,Estevan, Marcus, Lucas and the other 2 on campus soon.

Once again, this was not "hazing" this was an out right assault, a rape. It was not hazing, it was and still is a criminal act.

The school board has the final say? Then that most definitely means they'll get off.... primos all around! That's how it works. I agree, these boys will be walking around campus before you know it. Sad, sad situation in LV =( Time to attend board meetings and really take a look at who was elected into their positions. Which one/s owes the Gallegos clan a favor?

I believe the headline says hazing. The DA or whoever will decide if a crime has been committed. At any rate, hazing or crime, I wish it had not happened.

You know what I never thought of that. All athletes in all of New Mexico have a code of conduct supervised by the NMAA. Come on Mr. Gary Tripp do something. This is your home town, that this heinous crime happened in. Stop their season, stop their harassment, stop their crap. You know no one here will do the right thing. Yara already got off, next the coaches and then the perps. Yes, yes this falls under the category that the NMAA has full authority over.

I think the only thing the NMAA could do is prevent the young men from playing the sports, and maybe blocking the coach. But that doesn't really address the problem. As I see it, the school is accomodating the power structure in that town, and not looking at the magnitude of the situation. This should be turned over to an unbiased judge and the legal system. It is not worth the chance that another child will ever have to deal with this sort of deviant behavior or the bullying that I have read about from these boys. It seems those boys need to be in the corrections system, and not in public school.

SUSPENSION? That's all? What a slap in the face to the victims. Shame on you Robertson High School. I suppose next we'll hear the victims asked for it, huh? Or maybe they were dressed a little too provocatively.

I am NOT surprised to see a lack of posts from the folks who came out in defense of the NMMI kids caught hazing by bloodbars.

Anyone who condones hazing of any kind has a screw loose.

So, did they plan to sodomize the vic or did they just get caught up in the moment??? Freaks.

Wow, I can't believe it looks like they kids will go with just a suspension. I do hope that the DA takes this serious. If what has been said is indeed true this is no hazing but rape.

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? This forum is about the "hearing process" at Robertson High in Las Vegas! Maybe you thought people were typing in a typo and you misread it. We were talking about NMAA which stands for New Mexico Athletic Association not NMMI. This does not concern Roswell and all you aliens.

No, no everyone is jumping to conclusions. And rightfully so, we've seen the dumbest things go on here in Vegas. However, giving the A.D. his job back just makes it look as though all along Robertson Administration was going to cover it up. But then there are the parents of the victims who I know love their children so much, they're not going to let this one be swept under the rug. Maybe we should stop assuming the norm will happen this time. If these so called hearings of the perpetrators had no basis, just to determine expulsion or not then why bother? I don't get this Rick Romero, he's trying to show leadership but comes off looking like a complete idiot. He tried to down play the magnitude of the situation since the beginning. Now holding these hearing which by the way, the school board will have the final say on the fates of these criminals. After the rest of the student body and community is let down by the school board, then perhaps the law can step in. The State Police investigated these boy's actions as a crime to which was rightly so. There was evidence collected and the District Attorney in Santa Fe is going to handle the case, so maybe they won't just get a slap on the wrist. Everyone channel into thinking "they're going to get punished" and with all that positive thinking maybe it will happen.

If a crime was committed, why weren't they ARRESTED????? Isn't that what happens when someone commits a crime? Or has the law changed since I last looked? The heck with the school board. If a criminal act occured isn't it law enforcements job to handle it. What is going on there? If arrested, tried, and convicted, there would be jail time and no need for suspension!!!!!

One of the persons that committed the crime was just at West Las Vegas High School registering for classes. His name is Lucas Martinez. We don't want him at our school. Dr. Abreu please don't allow this to happen. Our kids matter, we don't want people who've done such a horrible thing to be placed any where near our kids. It's a scary situation. He can get the schooling he needs in prison or a juvenile facility. Dr. Abreu show that idiot Rick Romero how to run a school. Get that gone!!!!!!!
