A flying start for Esparto - Daily Democrat Online

Your article is so one sided I had to say something. Pierce only has 3 returning seniors this year, the rest of the team are juniors. This is their first year playing Varsity ball and this was their first game. The Esparto boys were huge compared to Pierce I wonder how many are seniors. Hats off to Esparto, but how about a pat on the back for our very young Varsity team.....

If the Daily Democrat covered Pierce, they'd get some attention. Esparto is one of the three high schools that the Daily Democrat covers, so of course they are going to make the focus of the article on the Spartans.

Sure, the writer could have mentioned the info about being a young first year varsity team, but nobody in Woodland cares about that....Sorry.

Um....my husband who is a city of Woodland firefighter and all of our fire department family and friends in Woodland care as we got several calls today about the article. My point is that a good reporter does a little investigation about the teams and presents all the facts and figures, so that the reader can form their own opinion and not just read the writers skewed view of the story, because isn't that what good journalism is about? But I guess that's lost this day in age.

In an ideal world,I suppose that would be true. However, given the time and personnel limitations of a two-person Democrat sports department, I would say that the writer was probably doing the best he could under the circumstances. Newspapers are under seige today, and someone or something always gets left out when employees are overworked.Unfortunate,but reality.

Face it, Pierce is terrible. If you want to complain about the reporting, then call the Appeal Democrat in Marysville. That is the paper that is supposed to report on Pierce, but they chose not to, probably because they're no good. The Appeal Democrat chose instead to report on Colusa v. Live Oak. You know that other terrible Colusa County school in your home town. Esparto already cleaned Live Oak's clock in a scrimmage and later this season they will do the same to those Colusa Cancers or Redskins or whatever their name is.

Woodland's Daily Democrat is responsible for reporting on Esparto, Woodland, Pioneer, Davis, and Winters, not Pierce, Colusa, or any other of your Northern area rinky dink schools.

Go Spartans ... Winters prepare to feel years of pent up wrath.

Wow how can Esparto even claim to be in league with Winters? Dont get me wrong Esparto has a decent team but they are no match what so ever. Winters starting line average over 200lbs and all run under a 5.2 second forty yard dash Esparto has good players but Winters is far more superior. I wont even compare back fields or defenses. Lets save the talk and we will see what happens Friday night. Oh and baller boy is that comment really necassary? hahaha
