Just lose every game and get the 1st pick again...this team is going nowhere anyways. what a pathetic first game. we'll be lucky to win 3 games this year. Pennington is a joke...but he is perfect for this joke of a franchise. I am embarrassed to be a Dolphins fan.

Dolhins not good and Jets not much better. They basicly won on a Hail Mary. Dolphins with bad clock management at the end, piss poor none argument from the dolphin defense and Sparono on the roughing the passer when Matt Roth hit Farve in the act of faking he had the ball. Mistakes everywhere, but it was the first game.

Make this a REAL and RESPECTABLE blog But didn't Miami lose by 3 points in overtime by a playoff team in last years opener? That led to 1-15. It seems that every dolphin game a ref decides a game by a pass interference call (referencing the Goodman call). Just let the play go!! If two players are tangled together, don't call a Paass interference. But then again, it was Favre's show, and Goodall must have made a few phone calls before the game.

Two tries for two yards with two good backs. Very disappointed in Sparano's playcalling. The best thing that happened to Miami today (and the rest of the division) is that BRADY got HURT. That gives me more hope than winning would have. Pretty sad when you NEED opponents to get hurt in order to THINK you have a chance, but guess what. The Pats STILL won, with a back up QB, while the dead fish did what they do quite naturally with their starting QB; LOSE. Beaten by an old retiree; pathetic.

You called it ....... the only thing is that Sparano is so over-matched being at this level in the NFL that he has no choice but to let Henning call whatever he wants. You were right though ....... just plain lack of confidence in your OL whenyou pass 2 times from the 2 yd. line. It would even be different if your QB was a threat to at least take of and run it in, but nothing doing ...... a noddle-armed QB that's never been rated higher than 'serviceable' is chucking it twice. This is very sad.

That, and an injured Jet kicker, is what allowed the score to reflect a game closer than it really was.

Just the exact poor excuse I expected from a Dolfan. The Jets won with a QB who only knew 75% of the plays., who hasn't played since last year, and is considered old by Dolfans like you. They won without a Kicker. The Jets have won 17 out of 21 against your team. They have won most of their games without spending alot of money. BTW how did that HIGHEST PAID O-LINEMAN IN THE NFL do today? Two penalties and he let Pace sack Pennington. Lousy clock management by the Dolphins. That's one thing we can always count on. Enjoy your losing season. Things are looking up for the Dolphins. Maybe They'll win TWO games this season as an improvement. socalfinfan wrote: WOW, a team that paid 100 mil in salaries was just able to hang on by seconds to beat a team thats is in its first year of rebuilding, looks less promising for the jets than for the Phins. You people need to stfu and open your eyes. There was less than 1 minute to go on the clock and the Dolphins were EXTREMELY close to getting that last touchdown and sending this game to overtime. They threw a 15 yard pass on 4th and 7 that was just shocking. Ok so they played pretty bad during the other quarters, but coming off a season like the last one, you can't tell me you're not impressed with the way they dominated that 4th quarter. If they hadn't wasted a timeout in the 2nd half I'll bet your mother this would have gone into overtime.

Good teams win when they do not play their best, and face adversity. Lousy teams lose when they are handed several chances to win yet they still lose. Two chances from the 2-yard line and the Dolphins couldn't score. The Jets left 4 points on the field playing without a kicker. They also gave the Dolphins good field position. Congrats on what you would consider a moral victory. northdolphin wrote: Where do all these Jets fans come from ? They're like rats coming out ! Gimme a break ... The Jets were not great today ... just the Fins played worst. They really looked together in the 4th quarter, although I still have a problem with Ginn and the other wr's not getting free enough to catch .. that eventually makes the O line look bad.

The bottom line is the Dolphins lost, to the hated NY Jets, at home, on opening day, again, even though the QB is a former Jet who beat them so many times.
So if you can't win even this game, why play Pennington? Why not play Henne? Why delay the inevitable? This is clearly not a playoff team. What are the geniuses waiting for?
As you can read here, most fans saw the same old, same old, in every phase of the game, even if the Dolphins did have a chance at the end to pull it out.

Our linebackers watch TE run into our backfield then let them catch the ball then tackle them... why cant they stick to them and bat the ball down or try and make an int ??? Our secondary and recievers arent up to par.. with average receivers how can you ever evaluate your secondary ?? They are good enough to play with our receivers but the ones they face on Sundays are another story.. OUR WEAK LINKS... And i do mean WEAK.. We wont win until these problems are addressed. That second TD pass woulndnt have been made against any other team in the NFL.. Deltha O Neil what a mistake that was... I hear UPS has a couple guys that can play..

"Three times the play clock was about to expire and Pennington was forced to waste a timeout that would have come in handy in the final minute."
This is ridiculous. I don't know why quarterbacks burn timeouts rather than take the five yard penalty. Sometimes, it makes sense but to say he is "forced" to burn a timeout is wrong. He is forced to take a five yard penalty or burn a timeout. He chose to burn three timeouts.
Coming from behind, I'm taking the penalty for sure. Maybe in field goal range, I'm inclined to burn one. But, more often than not, I'm taking the 5 yards.
