Miguel Cabrera misses ex-team and ex-teammates

For a moment, for the time he allows himself to remember, Miguel Cabrera 's smile comes up and his body finds tempo and he swings an imaginary Alfredo Amezaga over a hip in some impromptu Marlins dugout ...

Getting rid of Miguel was the last straw as far as me supporting the Marlins... Forbes magazine year after year says they make more profit than anyone but they can't afford a kid we saw become one of the best? Yes he's struggling now, but he will still be one of the best of his time. And the Marlins will be in last place come playoff time.

He also misses Little Havana and all his Spanish-speaking fans ...
since the game last week was in Spanish - yes, the announcer was speaking Spanish - I could care less about the Marlins.
We all know our country is going down the tubes, but this is proof as it comes little by little and hits us personally.

"They have money"....NEVER truer words spoken. Now that there is a budget crisis all over, especially in S. Florida..isn't it just comforting to know that these filthy slimeballs get a new stadium here with free-bee perks.

You know people need to stop imagining that the team took money from our dinner tables or something..none of the money they are going to receive is coming from any source that would have ended up in general publics pocket.

It would have gone to other similar things, accept the current major thing this state hasn't done is given the team that really has earned a stadium a stadium. They have won two Championships alone, the Heat Panther and Dolphins all have won one championship combined since the Marlins came into existence!

In a perfect world the team would foot the total bill for the stadium, and if there wasn't several cities more then willing to pay for the entire project that may have been possible. Fact is they are paying for part of it, which is more then some teams would be willing to do.

I wouldn't bet on that Plantation, with the exception of the Red Sox, when teams bust the payroll for a championship they have a tendency to come up short.

"I felt two years ago, they were going to move me to first," he said. "So I was ready for it. That didn't matter to me at all. Whatever they want."

See, Girardi was right when he wanted to move Cabrera to first, AND Cabrera was fine with it. But since they had nobody ready to replace him, they made it sound like Girardi was insane to want Cabrera at first.

"They called when they traded me and said,'We don't have the money to pay you,'" he said. "...That's the excuse they give. They have money."

AND, we see here that someone on the INSIDE knows that the Marlins are lying when they say they don't have the money to pay A SINGLE player the LEAGUE AVERAGE.

Thank You, Dave Samson for the reply. Atleast we know one thing...you're not too cheap to pay for internet. That is UNLESS ole Jeffy told you to go to the library to post!

See, giving away Cabrera has nothing to do with wins or losses (as we all now know by looking at the standings). The thing Loria will never understand, though, is that giving away Cabrera IS the reason why we are in first place and the stadium is STILL empty.

People want to go to the game to see more than just a winning team. They want a team they - and their kids - have grown up with.

I know the team is playing well. Good for them. And hopefully they will continue to make us proud. But guys like Cantu, although good, don't yet have a connection with me or my kids. So no one in my house is begging me to go and see Cantu.

You don't have this problem in New York or Boston, which is a big reason why their stadiums are always filled. It's because their kids are growing up with Jeter and Ortiz. But Loria will never understand this.

Here's the bottom line - you may have a competitive team when you're constantly filling it with great, youthful talent. But you'll only fill the stands when that talent is around year after year after year - representing YOUR hometown team. And THAT is what you miss out on by giving away Cabrera and all the others that have helped win championships.

why would you go see cantu when we have the best player in the league in ramirez??????????

anyways i wish the best to cabrera but to be honest if it came down to choosing between him or ramirez to be our franchise player i would chose Ramirez with my eyes closed... I will give this management another shot at keeping the players we have now.

Sadly, the S Fla fans dont appreciate or support great baseball players. Or even a very good baseball team.

Is there anything that you can write with a positive twist? To all of you bumbling idiots that posted on this saying "ooo...I hate them now since they traded Cabrera"...

WHY READ A FUCKING BASEBALL STORY THEN?

You're all just bandwagon fans that like to latch on to the popular notion. When you have a man who should lead the team, help all of his peers get better, be a better face in the community, and does nothing to better his image...why feel sad for him. He didn't lose weight (or maintain it), he wasn't a clubhouse force (when he should've been)... he wasn't the best at going around the community.

Great player... yes... great person, hardly. Should've the story been written backwards and the Marlins were in last place, his dumbass would've miss shit.

Where the hell were all the fans when we were defending our title in 2004 with a $90 million payroll?

Ignorance of the masses... it is great.

Did anyone ever stop and ask themselves IF the majority of the people here really want baseball? Even after winning a few WS championships, we still couldn't fill the stands.

Sounds to me like the majority of people here have already spoken.

Do you think Boston and NY would have the fan base they have if they had a new lineup every two years? Seriously????

What was the excuse for not attending games after the 2003 word series win ? BS south Florida fans dont support their teams well. I love the Marlins but even with Miggy and the D-Train on the team even if they were in first place they would still draw the 10-15k they always draw
