When they reply to your e-mails, they will say it's their job to be objective and just report the facts, well thats true ifyour covering a crime or a political report, but sports reporting should also have the knowledge of the game, the players POV and the spirit of the fan in it.It's a disgrace when TSN writes abetter article than the home town paper! 100% on the mark... I'm still looking for that "where players WANT to play" NHL link... I'll keep lookin' but to the best of my knowledge and only positive..Florida and Tampa were in the top 10 TOP PLAY..along with Montreal, Toronto, NYR..that's my memory FOR Against... DO NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR BOTTOM was... NYI, NJ, Carolina, Atlanta, Edmonton. So, ya see...with NHL players Winning isn't EVERYTHING...However, for the fans sake, for CHRIST SAKES can we make the freakin playoffs just once in awhile. Cohen, you'll have to get off your wallet.

MAX VENTURA wrote: .......WHAT ABOUT TORTORELLA THE TAMPA COACH COMING TO SOUTH FLORIDA??? You don't hire a coach first and a GM second. The first thing a good team does is to decide on master plan, after evaluating talent, prospects and the style of hockey they fit into. Only if you have little in the way of talent or prospects do you ignore everything and completely rebuild. Once the GM sets a course of action, then he goes out and finds the right coach. The smart thing to do would be to dump Jacques completely, hire someone like Neil Smith and then let him pick the new coach. Don't forget, ownership picked Jacques Martin to be their coach, independent of their then GM (Dudley). Then they fired Dudley when Jacques said he wanted Keenan as his GM. If they didn't want Dudley anymore, the right thing to have done back then was to pick a GM and then see if Jacques was the right guy. And if you look at this scenerio closely, you realize that the biggest problem the Panthers have is that their owner has tried to wear the GM hat far too often - making decisions that should only be made by a professional hockey executive with experience at calling the shots.

Absolutely True, if they are canning JM completely a GM has got to come first.

Hockey Dave wrote: <quoted text> The only changes to your lines would be the hope that if Matthias steps up to the big club he would be on a higher line the where you have him listed...at least that is what we can hope for. As far as Campbell, Pelt and Stumpy...well I could care less if they stay. Radek I would keep. He is what he is and 10 goals isnt great but what he contributes on the PK makes up for that. Zednik is a toss up. He wasn't playing that great until just before he was injured so how do you evaluate him?? Based on most of the season or the 8 or 10 games leading up to the injury. Either way I guess maybe he stays and if worse comes to worse you trade him down the road if need be. Defense is in great shape when welch and Van ryn come back next season but you're right a big solid D-man to move people off the puck would be a good addition. Getting rid of Sa-lazy was a great move. Cory Murphy in his first year in the NHL still has some learning to do but he a mobil offensive minded guy who can play the powerplay well. I think his size has been a problem because JM the guru has been lining him up against guys like Chara. Great coaching!!! We still are yet to see Frolik and McArdle play so there is hope for the future and if management goes after some key guys then maybe just maybe this team has a chance in the future. Just an example. Yeah it would be great if Matthias could play on one of the top 2 lines right away but I think 3rd line center is a good place for him to start out as a rookie.

It was a fun little run, but this team has no business in the playoffs anyways. You forget what real good hockey is like if you just watch the Cats. Watch a western conference game or Pitt vs NY vs NJ, ect and get back to me. Way faster, harder hitting and oh yeah, scoring. Aaaaaahhhhhrrrrggg. Beyond frustating.

I was at the Panthers' last playoff win:
Miami Arena: Game 1, 1st Round, 3-0 vs NYR.
1997 !!!
You should be able to roll a few pucks out on the ice and win a playoff series, ummmm, ONCE PER DECADE
PATHETIC !!!

And south florida news stations and local papers should be ashamed for teh lack of coverage they give to a local pro team. 10 sec blurbs and maybe a 5 sec video and then they can only bash the team . Great support for the home team , no wonder it seems like we're the visiting team half teh time in our own arena. Skolnicks an idiot ....

The problem for the Panthers is relatively simple: they need at least two more 30-45 goal scorers, period. That has been their problem for all these years-they cannot accomplish the "goal" (admittedly a bad pun) of a hockey game: score goals. Until that happens all else is mere window dressing, whether you are takling about the GM, coach, or FA non-scoring pickups. That's what to watch for this off season, whoever is running the team.

The Panthers are a disgraceful organization from top to bottom. In "Pantherland", whether you're wearing a suit or a jersey you should be ashamed of yourself.
It's not only the losing. The attitude of the staff, the poor effort of the players, the shenanigans at the game, the ridiculous promotions, the commercials posturing "wins" and "Change", the tired goal celebration videos...it's like a demonstration of how NOT to run a sports team.
I've been to games at 12 arenas this season. Bank Atlantic Center is one of the two most beautiful and modern.
...but as for Yormack, Martin, Cohen, the team and the staff - Amateur Night, every night.
