The great Todd Heap, when will the Raven's wise up to this overated soft player , we need a tough tight end who can catch the ball and run with it after the catch instead of putting his head down and going to the ground. This game was no where near as close as the score indicated. If the refs don't blow the call on the punt return and Todd hip does the job he gets paid millions to do we coul dhave won this game 30- 3!

It's nice to see the folks in Baltimore see what we've seen in Delaware the past two years. He's pretty much got ice in his veins and isn't going to be flustered if things don't go well.
I was screaming at my television during his TD run.

I know one game does not a season make but Ravens fans have to be pleased with todays result. Flacco conducted himself admirably and as frar as I could tell he made no major mistakes. Everyone, including all the naysayers and doom prophets, should take heart at the play of the offesive line. They opened pretty good holes for the runners but what was more significant was the pass protection. Of course, the defense was outstanding. Some of the worries about defending against a good passing team, seems at least for now, to be not as woeful as predicted. All in all this was a good day for the Ravens and may be a sign that they are not as bad as so many people predicted. -----GO RAVENS, ON TO HOUSTON--------

Hey Gary, what went fight is we now have an offensive coordinator who sets plays up instead of just randomly running what we have in the play book. How many times did you see the Ravens run a reverse in past years on the first series when you did not know yet what the defense was doing in pursuit. You have to set trick type plays up brfore you run them the way Cameron did today!

Okay, so I am not going over the top. This was just the first game of the season.
Nevertheless, SWEET!
You had to love Harbaugh's innovative strategies, Flacco's internal drive & determination and the defense's flawlessness. And let's not forget forty-year-young Matt as well as Dancing Man Ray.
Most refreshing? It was much about the TEAM, and not about one person or position.
Welcome to Charm City, John and Joe!Welcome Home to the rest of the team.
You gotta love it here, hon.

Well, this pretty much puts an end to who will be the starting QB from here on out. Great job Joe, way to go!!!!!

Imagine how much better Flacco would have looked if our receivers could actually hold on to the ball. He should have completed at least 4 or 5 more passes, 2 of which would have probably been touchdowns.

Too bad the Steelers won. Would have been nice to see them start the season with a loss.

Bob Mathers wrote: To always bleed blue, yeah I like the team. They do okay. Like I said...with the way this Ron 'Minute' Rice and that McClain guy ran the ball...whatever kept Jamal out of the game, well...he may have lost his starting job with the Ravens for a while after this one. And as for Billick, I won't get to see his press conference today as I'm out of town but I'm sure this game will be enough to get him talking 'Festivus Maximus' like he did when the team won the Super Bowl a few years back. I think Brian Billick finally learned his lesson and really managed that game clock well today. Finally, Flacco played a game reminiscent of Trent Dilfer. He managed the offense, and stayed out of the bakery (no turnovers, except for that fumble which was not his fault). Way to go, Ravens! Get Houston next week and make it 2-0 boys! You are a complete moron. I sure hope this post was a joke, if not, let me fill you in. Billick was fired last year, Jamal Lewis is now with Cleveland, It's RAY Rice not Ron, and we bleed "purple" in Baltimore, not blue. Man, you REALLY have no idea about football do you?

We may also find out how much of that "problem" rested with Billick and how much rested with the QB's. Hopefully, Ozzie and co. can finally remove the revolving door in front of the QB's office.

I was very surprised on two fronts- one, I really thought Palmer was going to have a field day with our secondary and second, I figured Flacco would be very nervous, get a bit rattled early on, turn the ball over a couple of times, etc... The defense played a great game, negating any kind of momentum Palmer and the Bengal offense could generate. Even with the turnover-touchdown, the D stayed focused and dominated for the most part. Offensively, I could have done without the dropped passes that underscored Flacco's stats, but the offensive line was awesome and completely wore down Cincinnati's front line the last two possessions. Flacco's pocket presence was excellent all day and he seems to have that intuitive ability to sense pressure and stay collected. It's only one game and he will have his ups and downs but I loved the fact that he got to play an entire game and experience regular season tempo. Like I said, I know it's only one game but this one was sweet!

I'm so sick of Todd Heap. He's soft and looks extremely rusty. He can't stay healthy. I saw him last year here in Phoenix at the Arizona State game. He was jumping up and down on the sidelines but didn't play the following week. That fumble was inexcusable and the dropped pass in the endzone was even worse. If he would have caught that pass the game would have never been in doubt. If he can't stay healthy then he needs to sit and let Wilcox play

Is Flacco a keeper, or what? He'll doubtlessly have some rough times, but on balance he should only get better. Do we dare whisper about maybe the long search for a solid, long-term QB for the Ravens possibly being over??

In passing out kudos for the Ravens' season opening victory, don't forget an offensive line that played their hearts out - well done!

To all of those who thought this starting O-Line if healthy would be terrible: get with the program. They will be solid this year especially with the depth that anderson provides.

GHT wrote: <quoted text>but the O looks like it has potential. Not inept like the last 9 years. Heap catchs a few more and Flacco's numbers are better and we have a larger lead. Agree. I was at the game. You cannot appreciate how good Flacco is until you see him in action. He was looking of 2 , 3 receivers, stepping up in the pocket to avoid the rush, casually throwing away a ball when noone was open. If his recievers didn't drop 6 of his perfectly place throws, the statistics would be much better. He only had two bad trows the entire game. Ravens fans, we have ourselves a QB. the problem is, he's almost too good, as our receivers don't match up with his skills. As a whole, the offense was brilliant. there were twelve different formation in the first 12 plays, and if it wasn't for two of our fumbles, the game would have been a blowout. A remarkable performance by a rookie QB!

mike wrote: the best q.b. the ravens have ever had..... totally agree. I know it's one game, but how many rookies have the poise to look off two receivers, step up in the pocket after the rush is collapsing the edges, and then casually hit their 3rd receiver. If you truly know football, you can say we do have someone at QB that maybe special.

OK - where are all the naysayers who wanted Suggs to be gone - c'mon - eat some crow!!
What a job he did today - he is worth what we are paying him and what we will be paying him next year!!
Also the comments about our poor O-line - those commenters have a little crow to eat too.
As for me, I predicted a loss today before the game - and am very happy to be wrong on that one. If we can beat Houston next week in their home opener, I see us being 3-0 heading into Pittsburgh. Now wouldn't that be something!!
